Create MCR – A summary of the activity
In the aviation industry, operating assets such as aircraft and components are subjected to configuration changes during their life cycle for safety, reliability and efficiency purposes. The maintenance programs for these assets also undergo changes over a period of time. These changes are referred to as “Engineering Changes” and are registered as “Maintenance Change Requests” in this activity. These maintenance change requests, after due evaluation, are executed through appropriate Engineering documents in the “Engineering Document” business component.

What you can do in this activity
Record a vendor SB, AD, AOT etc or an internal request as a “Maintenance Change Request”
Group MCRs under “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component” depending upon the MCR applicability
Maintain multiple revisions of the MCR
Define aircraft model or part effectivity for the MCR
Record weight and balance details
Attach reference documents to the MCR
Specify kit parts, resources, new tools required for MCR
Enter the conditional effectivity details for the MCR
Identify the publications affected due to MCR execution
Record configuration changes due to MCR execution
Enter the list of customers who would execute the MCR
Specify tasks, sub tasks, required parts details for the MCR
Record a vendor SB, AD, AOT etc or an internal request as a “Maintenance Change Request”
The various documents such as SB, AD, AOT etc. released by the internal and external agencies to perform engineering changes on the maintainable assets are recorded as “Maintenance Change Request”. These maintenance change requests are communicated to the engineering department for necessary action.
Go to “Create Maintenance Change Request” page.
Select the appropriate option in the “Source” drop-down list box to specify the source that issued the modification document.
Enter the relevant details for the MCR and create the MCR.
Group MCRs under “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component” depending upon the MCR applicability
You can specify MCRs whether they are applicable for aircraft, engine or component.
Go to “Create Maintenance Change Request” page.
Select the appropriate option in the “Applicability” drop-down list box.
Maintain multiple revisions of the MCR
An MCR can contain multiple revisions. Modifications to the MCR can be traced though the revision numbers. The revision number represents the number of changes the MCR has undergone.
Go to “Create Maintenance Change Request” page.
Enter the revision number for the MCR in the “Revision #” field.
Define aircraft model or part effectivity for the MCR
If the MCR is applicable for “Aircraft”, you can define the aircraft model effectivity, that is, indicate the aircraft for models for which the MCR is applicable.
Use the “Create Maintenance Change Request” page to identify the aircraft models for the MCR.
Use the “Edit Aircraft Effectivity” page to identify the individual aircraft for the MCR.
If the MCR is applicable for “Engine” or “Component”, you can define the part and component effectivity, that is, indicate the parts and components for which the MCR is applicable.
Use the “Edit Part Effectivity” page to identify the parts for the MCR.
Use the “Edit Component Effectivity” page to identify the components for the MCR.
The current MCR can be related to one or more MCRs raised earlier, that describe the pre-conditions for the execution of the current MCR. Such requirements are termed as “Concurrent requirements”.
Use the “Edit Concurrent Requirements” page to enter the concurrent requirement details.
Record weight and balance details
The execution of MCR might affect the weight and balance of the aircraft. The change in the weight and balance of the aircraft can be recorded.
Use the “Edit Weight & Balance Information” page to enter the weight and balance details.
Attach reference documents to the MCR
You can enter the reference documents that will be helpful in the execution of MCR.
Use the “Edit References Details” page.
Specify kit parts, resources, new tools required for MCR
Use the “Edit Kits Requirement Information” and “Edit Kit Composition Information” pages to enter the details of the kit parts required for MCR execution.
Use the “Edit Resources Required” and “Edit New Tooling Requirement” pages to enter the resources and tools required for MCR execution.
Enter the conditional effectivity details for the MCR
Conditional effectivity means that the MCR is applicable on the aircraft or component only if the conditions stated are true for that aircraft / component.
Use the “Edit Conditional Effectivity” page to enter the conditional effectivity details for the MCR.
Identify the publications affected due to MCR execution
You can enter the details of the publications (the maintenance manuals such as AMM, CMM, SRM etc, and circulars) that are affected due to the execution of the MCR.
Use the “Edit Publications Affected” page.
If an MCR is created against a directive issued by the regulatory authorities, you can record the directive details.
Use the “Edit Regulatory Directive Details” page.
You can specify whether the compliance of the MCR can be “Date Based”, “Usage Based” or “Date & Usage Based” and enter the relevant details. If the MCR execution has to be complied with before a particular date, then the MCR is “Date based”. Certain MCRs need to be complied with based on their usage type, which is measured in terms of the parameters. Such MCRs are of compliance type “Usage Based”.
Use the “Edit Compliance Details” page to enter the compliance details for the MCR.
Record configuration changes due to MCR execution
The MCR execution might affect the configuration of the aircraft model or the aircraft. These changes can be recorded as configuration changes.
Use the “Edit Configuration Change Information” page.
Enter the list of customers who would execute the MCR
Use the “Edit Customer list” page to enter the list of customers who would execute the MCR.
Specify tasks, sub tasks, required parts details for the MCR
Use the “Edit Task Information“ and “Edit Sub Tasks” pages to specify the tasks and sub tasks to be performed for executing the MCR.
Use the “Edit Parts Provided by Operator” page to enter the parts provided by the operator for carrying out the tasks during MCR execution.
