Visit Package – An Overview

The Visit Package business component aids in managing the execution of heavy maintenance on aircraft. It facilitates finalization of work scope for a given aircraft visit, and high level scheduling across work centers.

The maintenance tasks are organized into work packs of varying intensity with well-defined schedules, with a view to reduce the frequency of aircraft groundings for maintenance work execution. Heavy maintenance of aircraft involves “checks” having a larger work scope. The ‘checks’ are executed in “Hangars”, where extensive support facilities are available.

The execution phase of scheduled aircraft maintenance is triggered based on a pre-configured maintenance program. The aircraft, on which the “Major Check” is due, is allocated to an execution facility, on the basis of a capacity analysis across the various hangar facilities available. The planning for the “visit” of the aircraft for the major check is then initiated at the respective execution center, by the production-planning cell.
