Create Visit Package – A summary of the activity
Using the “Central Planning” business component, the central planner creates the visit package for scheduled maintenance. This activity allows you to create a visit package for unscheduled maintenance.
The visit package is an aggregation of all the maintenance activities that needs to be accomplished during the visit of an aircraft to the maintenance execution facility. Besides forming the means for pre-execution planning of a visit, it also acts as the control unit for monitoring the various activities during the course of execution. The visit package is assigned to a primary work center, which acts as the primary responsibility center for the check execution.
A visit package is created on an aircraft and is assigned a unique number generated by the system. Planning information such as the expected grounding date, planned start and end dates and the execution priority is also identified. A visit package typically comprises of maintenance activities that are to be accomplished during the aircraft visit. These include:
Scheduled maintenance activities to be performed on the aircraft as identified in the “Maintenance Program” business component.
“On-wing” scheduled maintenance activities that are to be executed on the various components that are currently fitted on to the aircraft as identified in “Component Maintenance Program” business component.
The list of components for which maintenance activities are due, for which removal from the aircraft is required.
Engineering orders/Field campaign directives, as allocated by the central production planner, that may be performed along-with the scheduled activities.
Pending discrepancies that may have been deferred in any of the earlier major/minor checks.
Support maintenance activities such as tasks for opening and closing of access panels that need to be performed for execution of any of the above activities.
It also has the material and resource requirements for execution of the above activities
While the central planner on the respective execution centers creates planned visit packages, unscheduled visits can be planned and executed locally (at the execution center). In such events, the visit planner can optionally include any upcoming planned maintenance activity (as forecasted by the aircraft’s maintenance planner) or deferred maintenance activities, if any.
The activity list is then exported to the project management software where the inter-dependencies between the tasks are established and the resource constraints evaluated, to arrive at the schedule dates. The revised schedules are then updated back into the visit package.

What you can do in this activity
Specify the component restoration details
Export/Import visit package to/from project management tools
Define resource and part requirements at the work unit level or at the visit package level
Specify deferral limits for a work unit
View other visit packages associated to the work center
Discrepancies are typically the symptoms of the problem, which are observed by the person-in-charge, like pilot, mechanic or the cabin crew, and it is usually recorded in the flight log or hangar work order . A maintenance report is created, in the “Discrepancy Processing” business component, to process the discrepancies. Sometimes, due to reasons such as non-availability of spares or ill-equipped maintenance station, the maintenance report may be deferred. The confirmed deferred maintenance reports that are not processed for the aircraft can be processed in this activity.
Create the visit package in the “Create Visit Package” page.
Use the “Process Deferred Discrepancies” page, to assign the deferred discrepancies to the visit package.
Specify the component restoration details
You can specify the component that has to be removed or replaced in the aircraft while performing the maintenance activity. You can also specify the work unit that has to be performed for the restoration of the component.
Note: The system retrieves the specified work unit from “Component Maintenance Program” business component
Create the visit package in the “Create Visit Package” page.
Use the “Update Component Removal List” page, to specify the component and work unit details.
Export/Import visit package to/from project management tools
You can define the visit package details and export the work unit details to the project management software. The software will calculate the scheduled start date and end date automatically for the work units included in the visit package. You can also import the visit package contents from the project management software.
Create the visit package in the “Create Visit Package” page.
Use the “Plan Visit Package” page to modify and schedule the work unit details.
Click the “Export to PMT” pushbutton, to export the work unit details to the project management software.
Click the “Import from PMT” pushbutton, to import the visit package contents from the project management software.
Create the visit package in the “Create Visit Package” page.
Use the “Edit Work Content” page to modify the aircraft and on-wing work units that are associated to the visit package.
Define resource and part requirements at the work unit level or at the visit package level
You can select a work unit and modify the parts and the resources required for executing the work unit.
Create the visit package in the “Create Visit Package” page.
Use the “Edit Material Requirements” page to enter the parts required to execute the work unit.
Use the “Edit Resource Requirements” page to enter the resources required for executing the work unit.
You can specify the parts and the resources which are over and above the requirements of individual tasks.
Use the “Edit Visit Level Material Reqmts” page to enter the parts required to execute the entire visit package.
Use the “Edit Visit Level Resource Reqmt” page to enter the resources required for executing the entire visit package.
You can view the consolidated material and resource requirement and modify resource and the part details.
Go to “Plan Visit Package” page.
Use the “Update Consolidated Resource Requirements” page to view the consolidated resource requirements.
Go to “Edit Resource Requirements” page from “Update Consolidated Resource Requirements” page, to modify the resource details for the individual work units, and for the visit package as a whole.
Use the “Update Consolidated Material Requirements” page to view the consolidated material requirements.
Go to “Edit Material Requirements” page from “Update Consolidated Material Requirements” page, to modify the part details for the individual work units.
You can defer work units allocated to the visit package by the central planner. You may have to defer a work unit due to various reasons such as resource constraints, flying schedules of an aircraft or workload of an execution center. Each deferment should be accompanied by an appropriate reason for deferring, and requires approval from an authorized person.
Create the visit package in the “Create Visit Package” page.
Go to “Edit Work Content” or “Process Modified Allocations” page to select the work units.
Use the “Create Deferment Request” page to create a deferment request for the selected work units.
Specify deferral limits for a work unit
You can specify the deferral limits for a work unit. You can specify time based and usage based deferral limits. The work unit will be deferred based on the deferral limits specified here.
Create the visit package in the “Create Visit Package” page.
Go to “Edit Work Content” page and select the “Create Deferment Request” link at the bottom of the page.
The system displays the “Create Deferment Request” page.
Select the work unit.
Select the “Edit Deferral Limits” link at the bottom of the page.
The system displays the “Edit Deferral Limits” page.
Use this page to enter the time based and usage based deferral limits for the selected work unit.
View other visit packages associated to the work center
Create the visit package in the “Create Visit Package” page.
Go to the “Plan Visit Package” page.
Select the “View Work Center Load” link at the bottom of the page, to view the other visit packages that are associated to the work center that are allocated to the work center. (So that the visit planner gets a picture of the current work assignments of the workcenter, before he allocates a set of work units to it.)
