Managing Additional Man Hours – A summary of the activity

Analysis of scheduled work compared to the forecasted work carried out at each maintenance shop is required for better decision-making. The variance of actual work from the forecasted work could be due to a variety of reasons, such as, non-availability of skills, non-availability of parts, increase in the unplanned work due to discrepancies reported and execution of field maintenance activities carried out at the base stations. Since, variance of actual work from forecasted work leads to aircraft non-availability for revenue flights, organizations would be interested in extracting information on schedule variances.

The management of work schedules is affected mostly by additional unplanned work, which might result in delays due to non-availability of material. Hence, it is important for a visit planner to be aware of the number of hours of unplanned work in a visit package. To enable this, the system provides an alert to indicate that unplanned man hours have reached certain level (say, 150 hours) set in the Business Decision Support Tool. At this stage, the visit planner can review the unplanned work orders added to the various visit packages and accordingly accept the new work orders added. An appropriate indication would be provided on acceptance of the additional work, if integration with the Business Decision Support tool is available.

This activity enables you to reset the alert for the additional unplanned work hours as well as to change the end date for the visit package.
