This page allows you to modify the details of the selected engineering document. engineering documents that are in “Fresh” status can be modified. Tell me more.

The “Edit Engineering Document” page appears.

The system displays the following field:

Date Format

The format in which the date fields appear in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default.

The system displays the following in the “Eng Doc Details” group box:

Eng. Doc #

The selected engineering document for which the details are to be modified.

Eng. Doc. Status

The status of the engineering document, which could be “Fresh”

Revision #

The revision number of the engineering document to be modified.

Eng. Doc. Type

The type of engineering document.

The system defaults the saved value in the following fields:

User Status

Use the drop-down list box to modify the user status of the engineering document. The system lists all the active quick codes that are of type “Eng. Doc- User Status” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity.  If you do not wish to specify the user status, you can leave this field blank.

Subject

The textual description of the engineering document. (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory.

ATA #

The  ATA chapter on which the engineering document. must be executed (Alphanumeric, 16). Mandatory. The ATA chapter number should be in “Active” status in the “Aircraft” business component.

Help facility available.

Exe. Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the execution type. The valid options are “Major” and “Minor”.  

Ref. Doc. Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the Reference Document type. The system lists the  Reference Document Type values of “Active” status as defined in the interacting “Common Master” business component.

Ref.Doc #

A unique number identifying the reference document (Alphanumeric,40).

Applicability

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the engineering document is applicable for an “Aircraft”, “Engine” or a “Component”.

Note: You can modify the engineering document applicability only when the effectivity details are not specified.

Priority

Use the drop-down list box to modify the priority for the  engineering document.. The system lists all the priority descriptions defined in the “Create Priority Numbers” activity of the “Common Masters” business component.

On selecting the Source Doc Type, the system defaults the Priority field with the value set for the corresponding Source Doc Type in the interacting “Common Master” business component.

Exe. Action ?

Use the drop-down list box to select the execution action. The valid options are "Required" and "Not Required".  The system displays the value “Required” by default.

Eng. Doc Type

Use the drop-down list box to modify the type of the engineering document. The system provides the following options:

 
  • Replacement - Select this option if the engineering document is generated for replacement of part.

 
  • Retrofitment - Select this option if the engineering document is generated for servicing the existing part.

 
  • Task Improvisation - Select this option if the engineering document is generated for revising the existing task details.

 
  • Task Schedule Related - Select this option if the engineering document is generated for changing the schedule details of the task.

 
  • Informative - Select this option if the engineering document is informational and need not be executed.

The system leaves the field blank by default.

Schedule Type

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the  engineering document. has to be executed on a “One-Time” or “Recurring” or “As Required” or “Perpetual” basis..

  • One-Time - Select this option to indicate that the tasks in the engineering document must be executed only once.

  • Recurring – Select this option to indicate that the tasks in the engineering document must be executed at repeated intervals.

  • As Required – Select this option to indicate that the tasks in the engineering document must be executed as and when required.

  • Perpetual – Select this option to indicate that the tasks in the engineering document must executed on executing any other task on the maintenance object.

Note: The system ensures the Schedule Type is set to “One Time”, if the Eng. Doc Type Attribute for "Tracking Required" is set to "No" in the interacting “Common Master” business component for the “Eng. Doc Type”.

Eng. Doc Category

Use the drop-down list box to modify the category of the engineering document. The system lists all the active quick codes that are of type “Eng. Doc - Category” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity.

If you do not wish to specify the category, you can leave this field blank

The system displays the following field:

Action on Rev. Effectivity

Indicates the option for copying the aircraft or component effectivity details of the engineering document from the previous revision to the new revision number. The system displays one of the following:

  • Re-Comply – Indicates that the aircraft or component effectivity details of the engineering document are to be copied irrespective of whether the maintenance objects are complied or not in the previous revision of the engineering document.

  • Carryover Compliance – Indicates that the effectivity details of only those maintenance objects that are yet to be complied in the previous revision, are to be copied at the point of creation of the new revision number.  

  • Revoke – Indicates that the engineering document work unit is to be removed from the maintenance program and the pending tray of the affected maintenance objects.

If the engineering document has been revised, the system displays the value set in the current revision number of the engineering document. If the engineering document has not yet been revised, the system displays “None”.

Authorization Status

The authorization status of the engineering document, which could be “Pending” or “Authorization Not Required”.

  • Pending - indicates that the engineering document is waiting for approval.

  • Authorization Not Required - indicates the authorization is not required for the engineering document

Back Ground

The textual description of the background information such as the prerequisites for the current change (Alphanumeric, 2000).

Reason

The textual information detailing the reason for which the engineering document  has been modified (Alphanumeric, 255).

Primary Work Center #

Use the drop-down list box to modify the work center where the engineering change has to be performed. The system lists all the work centers that have been defined in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” component.

The system displays the following field:

Work Center Description

The textual description of the work center.

Est. Elapsed Time

The total time estimated for completing the engineering document (Decimal). Mandatory. Ensure that the number entered in this field is positive.

Use the drop-down list box provided alongside, to specify the unit of measurement for the time allotted for the engineering  document. The system displays the options “Minutes”, “Hours” and “Days”.

Est. Man Hrs.

The total man-hours estimated for “Skill” type resources to execute the engineering document. (Decimal). Mandatory. Ensure that the number entered in this field is positive.

On-Wing

Check this box to indicate that the change can be performed when the part is fitted to the aircraft.

Direct Execution

The checkbox is selected if “Eng. Doc Type Attribute” for "Tracking Required" is set as "No" in the interacting “Common Master” business component for the “Eng. Doc Type”.  However, the checkbox is deselected if “Tracking Required” value is set to “Yes”.

Follow  Up Action Reqd.

Check this box to indicate that follow-up action is required after executing the engineering document.

Generate PR Automatically

Check this box to generate the purchase request during the release of the engineering document, for the part specified in the “Plan Material Requirements” page.

If this box is checked, the system copies the following details to the “Plan Material Requirement” page, on clicking the “Edit  Eng Doc” pushbutton:

Note: The system calculates the required quantity of parts, by multiplying the number of maintenance objects (maintained by individual maintenance bases) and the quantity identified for each part in the  engineering document.

Regularization

Check this box, if the changes suggested in the engineering document can be complied, while closing the engineering document.

Uncheck the box, if the changes suggested in the engineering document can be complied, while closing the work orders.  

Mod Status #

The modification status number of the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 15).

Test Flight Required

Use the drop-down box and set the field to “Yes”, if a trial run is required for the aircraft, after the changes are carried out.

The system displays the following:

Pre – Load ?

Indicates whether the engineering document is a pre-loaded engineering document. The system displays “Yes” or No”.

The system displays the following in the “Budgetary Information” group box;

Base Currency

The base currency defined in the interacting “Organization Set Up” business component.

Part Cost

The cost of the part (Integer).

Ensure that the value entered in this field is positive.

Resource Cost

The cost of resource (Integer).

Ensure that the value entered in this field is positive.

Kit Cost

The cost of kit (Integer).

Ensure that the value entered in this field is positive.

Other Cost

Any other cost details to record the budgetary information (Integer).

Ensure that the value entered in this field is positive.

Total Cost

The system displays the Total Cost as the sum of part cost, resource cost, kit cost and other cost, if no value is entered (Integer).

Ensure that the value entered in this field is positive.

Recurring Cost

The recurring cost incurred for the engineering document (Integer).Ensure that the value entered in this field is positive

Budget Remarks

Any remarks pertaining to the budgetary information (Alphanumeric, 40).

Warranty Coverage

Use the dropdown list box to specify the warranty coverage of the Component, Engine or Aircraft The system lists the options “Claimable” or “Non-Claimable”.

  • "Claimable" – The expenses that can be claimed for the Component, Engine or Aircraft.

  • "Non-Claimable" – The expenses that cannot be claimed for the Component, Engine or Aircraft.

By default, the system displays the value saved for the reference “Eng. Doc #” and “Revision #” combination on page launch.

Warranty Applicability

Indicates the applicability of the warranty. The system provides the following check boxes:

  • "Material" – Check this box to specify if the warranty claim is applicable for the Material.

  • "Labour" – Check this box to specify if the warranty claim is applicable for the Labour.

  • "Facilities" – Check this box to specify if the warranty claim is applicable for the Facility.

  • "Miscellaneous" – Check this box to specify if the warranty claim is applicable for options other than Material, Labour and Facilities.

By default, the system displays the value saved for the reference “Eng. Doc #” and “Revision #” combination on page launch.

Ensure that at least one check box is selected, if the “Warranty Coverage” value is selected as "Claimable".

Warranty Details

The details of warranty for the Component, Engine or Aircraft (Char 2000).

By default, the system displays the value saved for the reference “Eng. Doc #” and “Revision #” combination on page launch.

Change in Weight

The change in the weight of the aircraft after the execution of the engineering document (Decimal).

Change in Moment

The change in the moment of the aircraft after the execution of the engineering document (Decimal).

Note: The system retrieves the corresponding parameters UOM for the above fields. The parameters for the aircraft weight and moment are identified in the “Set Base Parameters” activity of the “Aircraft” business component.

Change in Electrical Load

The change in the electrical load of the aircraft after the execution of the engineering document (Decimal).

 

The system displays the following in the “Reference Document Details” group box:

Process Ref.  #

The number identifying the Modification Committee Meeting (MCM) that processed the change request.

Process Ref. Date

The date on which the MCM was convened.

MCR #

The number identifying the Modification Change Request (MCR) for which the engineering document is created.

Revision #

The revision number of the MCR.

Source Doc Type

The type of the modification document or the source document.

Parent. Eng . Doc #

The number identifying the parent Engineering Document. The system fills in this field if the Engineering Document is created from another Engineering Document.

Parent Revision #

The revision number of the parent  Engineering Document.

Eff. from Date

The date from which the MCR is effective.

Note: If the FCD is created based on the MCR, the corresponding MCR number will appear in the “MCR #” field.

File Name

The name of the file that you wish to attach to the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 50). This can be the document that contains information regarding  engineering document modification or any other document with respect to engineering document.

 Comments

Any comment pertaining to the cancellation of engineering document (Alphanumeric, 255)

The system displays the following field:

Link info

Indicates whether task, aircraft effectivity, part effectivity, concurrent requirement, reference information, affected publication, configuration change, confirm new part, material plan and periodicity details are entered for the engineering document. The system displays one of the following:

 
  • Tsk – if task details are available.

 
  • Ac Eff – If aircraft effectivity details are available.

 
  • Part Eff – if part effectivity details are available.

 
  • Concurr – if concurrent requirements details are available.

 
  • Ref – if references information is available.

 
  • Pub – if affected publications details are available.

 
  • Cnfg –if configuration change information is available.

 
  • CnfPrt – if confirm new part details are available.

 
  • PlnMtl – if material requirement details are available.

 

  • Prd – if periodicity details are available.

 

  • N - if notes are available.

 

  • Mod Eff – if aircraft modification details are available.

The system displays the following in the “Record Statistics” group box:

Created by

The name of the user who created the engineering document.

Created Date

The date on which the engineering document was created.

Last Modified by

The name of the user who last modified the engineering document.

Last Modified Date

The date on which the engineering document was last modified.

The system updates the status of the engineering document  to “Fresh”.

Note: This action is workflow-enabled. Notification messages can be sent as per the settings you have defined in the "Workflow Management" business component.

The system ensures the following:.

The system performs the following:

    1. If the value specified in the "Serial # Change?” field is “Specific” or “Append Mod Status#”, and if,

      1. "On-Wing" flag is checked

      2. "Schedule Type" for the engineering document with applicability “Component” or “Engine”, is changed to “Recurring".

    2. If the value specified in the "Serial # Change?” field is “Append Mod Status #” and if no value is specified in the "Mod Status #” field for the engineering document with applicability “Engine” or “Component".

The system sets the status of the engineering document to “Cancelled”. If new task(s) and/or part(s) defined in the “Cancelled” engineering document (s), are referred in other “Fresh” engineering document (s), the system classifies the task(s) and/or part(s) as “New”, in one of the “Fresh” engineering document (s).
