Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

This page enables you to create a child engineering document.  A unique number identifies the child Engineering Document. Tell me more.

The “Create Eng. Doc.” page appears.

Eng. Doc #

A unique number identifying the child engineering document (Alphanumeric, 16). This can be a combination of characters and digits.

  • Data entry in this field is mandatory, if “engineering document Numbering” is set as “Manual” in the “Set Options" activity. The number should be unique within the “Engineering Document” business component.

  • This number is generated by the system, if “engineering document Numbering” is set as “System Generated”, in the “Set Options” activity. The engineering document number is generated based on the numbering type selected.

Numbering Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the numbering type in which the engineering document number must be generated. Mandatory. The system lists all the values defined in the “Create Numbering Class” activity of the “Document Numbering Class” business component for the “Engineering Document” transaction.

Eng. Doc Category

Use the drop-down list to select the category to which the engineering document belongs. The system lists all the active quick codes that are of type “Engineering document Category” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity.

If you do not wish to specify the category, you can leave this field blank.

  • "Facilities" – Check this box to specify if the warranty claim is applicable for the Facility.

  • "Miscellaneous" – Check this box to specify if the warranty claim is applicable for options other than "Material", "Labour" and "Facilities".

By default, the system displays the value saved for the reference parent “Engineering Document #” and “Revision #” combination on page launch.

Ensure that at least one check box is selected, if the “Warranty Coverage” value is selected as "Claimable".

Warranty Details

The details of warranty for the Component, Engine or Aircraft (Char 2000).

By default, the system displays the value saved for the reference parent “Engineering Document  #” and “Revision #” combination on page launch.

Primary Work Center #

Use the drop-down list box to select the work center where the change has to be performed. The system lists all the work centers that have been defined in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” business component.

The system displays the following field on clicking the “Create engineering document” pushbutton:

Work Center Description

Note: The system calculates the required quantity of parts, by multiplying the number of maintenance objects (maintained by individual maintenance bases) and the quantity identified for each part in the engineering document.

Regularization

Check this box, if the changes suggested in the engineering document can be complied, while closing the engineering document.

Uncheck the box, if the changes suggested in the engineering document can be complied, while closing the work orders.

Mod Status #

The modification status number of the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 15).

Test Flight Required

Use the drop-down list box to indicate whether the test flight is required after the engineering change is performed. The system lists the following options:

Creating child engineering document – An overview

Create Child EO - A summary of the activity

This page enables you to create a child engineering document. A unique number identifies the child engineering document. Based on the option settings, the system either generates the engineering document number automatically, or enables you to enter it manually. To generate the number automatically, you must specify the numbering type in this page.

You can specify the category to which the engineering document belongs, user status and the description of the engineering document. The system displays the ATA chapter for which the child engineering document is created and the reference document details of the parent engineering document.

The system indicates whether the parent engineering document is applicable for aircraft, component or engine. You can specify the priority, type of the engineering document, whether the engineering document must be performed on one-time or recurring basis, background details and the reason for creating the child engineering document.

The execution details of the engineering document, such as the work center in which the engineering document has to be performed, estimated time and man-hours required for the execution of the engineering document, can be defined.

You can also indicate whether,

You can record the change in weight, moment and the electrical load of the aircraft after executing the engineering document.

The system assigns the “Fresh” status as soon as the child engineering document is created, and sets the creation date and time to the server date and time.

Note: If approval requirements are specified in the “Set Authorization Rules” activity, for the combination of the change document type and the source document type of the engineering document, the system sets the “Authorization Status” of the engineering document as “Pending”. Otherwise, the “Authorization Status” is set as “Authorization Not Required”.
