Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

In this page, you can enter the details of the tasks that must be performed while executing the engineering document. Tell me more.

The “Edit Task Information” page appears.

The system displays the following in the “Eng Doc Detail” group box:

Eng Doc #

The engineering document for which you wish to enter or modify the task details

Revision #

The revision number of the engineering document.

Subject

The textual description of the engineering document.

Applicability

The applicability of the engineering document which could be “Aircraft”, “Component” or “Engine”.

Expense Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the expense type, which could either be “Capital” or “Revenue”.  The system displays “Revenue”, by default.

Task Classifier

Use the drop-down list box to classify the task. The system displays the following options:

  • New – Select this option to indicate that the task is new and is not defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component.

  • Existing – Select this option to indicate that the task is already defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component.

  • Improvised - Select this option, to indicate that the task is already defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component, and the details of the task are enhanced for executing the engineering document.

By default, the system sets this field to “New”.

Ensure that the “Operations Type” is selected, if either “New” or “Improvised” option is selected.

Applicability Group #

The number identifying the applicability group based on which the engineering task will be executed. This field cannot be left blank if more than one Applicability Group # exists for the engineering document.

Task #

The number identifying the task (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. This can be a combination of characters and digits. This number should be unique in the multiline. If you have set the “Task Classifier” as “Existing” or “Improvised”, the task number must have been already defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component.

Help facility available.

Note: The system does not allow you to modify an already associated task number. To delete an associated task, check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline and click the "Delete" button.

Current Revision #

The revision number for the task (Alphanumeric, 40). This number represents the number of changes the task has undergone.

New Revision #

The new revision number of the task (Alphanumeric, 40). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Task Classifier” is set as “New” or “Improvised”.

Note: For new tasks, ensure that the task number and the new revision number combination must not be already defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component.

Ensure that the combination of the task and the revision number are unique in the multiline.

Task Description

The textual description of the task (Alphanumeric, 150). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Task Classifier” is set as “New” or “Improvised”.

Prog Item Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the program item type. The system lists the values based on the Schedule Type of the engineering document.

If the “Schedule Type” of the engineering document is "Perpetual", the system loads the value "Perpetual".

If the 'Schedule Type' of the engineering document is "As Required", the system loads the value "As Required"

If the 'Schedule Type' of the engineering document is "One-Time" or "Recurring", the system loads the values  "Schedule-Tracked", "Non-Tracked" and blank.

Conditionally Evaluated?

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the execution of the task is depends on outcome from the execution of a parent task.  You can select from the options “Yes” and “No”.

The system displays “No” by default.

Task Category

Use the drop-down list box to select the category to which the task belongs. The system lists all active quick codes defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component.

Task Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type to which the task belongs. The system lists all active quick codes defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component.

Operations Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the operation type of the maintenance activity. The system lists the following options:

  • “Flight Ops” - Select this option if the maintenance activity is to be performed during flight operations

  • “Repair Station” – Select this option if the maintenance activity is to be performed in the repair station.

The system leaves the field blank by default.

Time Unit

Use the drop-down list box to select the time unit for the time estimated to complete the task. The system lists the options “Hours”, “Minutes” or “Days”. By default, this field is set to “Hours”.

Est. Elapsed Time

The total time estimated for completing the task (Decimal). ,

Ensure that the number entered in this field is positive.

Note that if the “Task Classifier” field in the Task Details multiline is set as “New” or “Improvised” and a value is not specified in this field, the system defaults the Est. Elapsed Time as entered in the “Create Eng Doc” page of the current business component.

Est. Man Hrs.

The total man-hours estimated for “skill” type resources, to complete the task (Decimal).  .

Note that if the “Task Classifier” field in the Task Details multiline is set as “New” or “Improvised” and a value is not specified in this field, the system defaults the Est. Elapsed Time as entered in the “Create Eng Doc” page of the current business component.

Ensure that the number entered in this field is positive. You can provide a resource wise breakup for the total estimated man-hours, in the “Edit Resource Requirements” page.

If the resource details are entered in the “Edit Resource Requirements” page, the system sets the field to the estimated man-hours, or the sum total of the estimated duration entered for ‘skill’ type resources, whichever is greater.

DSC #

The dependent system condition to which the task must be associated (Alphanumeric, 15). The DSC should have already been defined in the “Create DSC” activity of “Maintenance Task” business component, and should be in “Active” status. The DSC contains a list of all the dependent systems and their desired condition to be checked for, before executing the task.

.

Help facility available

The system displays the following field on clicking the “Edit Task Details” pushbutton:

Link Info

Indicates whether piece parts, resources, access panels, work area and zones, sub tasks or notes are entered for the task. The system displays one of the following:

  • P - if piece part details are available.

  • R – if resource details are available.

  • AP – if access panel details are available.

  • WZ – if work area and zone details are available.

  • S-Tsk – if subtask details are available.

  • N – if additional notes have been entered.

If more than one detail exists for the task, “/” is used as the separator between the values listed above.

In this page, you can enter the details of the tasks that must be performed while executing the engineering  document.

You can select an aircraft model for which the engineering document is applicable and enter the task details.

You can create a new task for the  engineering document, or specify an existing task, or enhance the existing task details. For new and enhanced tasks, you can enter the task number, revision number, new revision number in the case of enhanced task, task description, task type, the time unit, the total time and the total man-hours estimated for the task completion. You can also specify the DSC, to check for the desired condition of the various dependent systems before executing the task, and refer to related documents such as AMM and CMM.

If you wish to attach an existing task to the  engineering document, you can specify the task number and revision number. The system lists all the other details of the task, as defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component.

The system updates the task details and stores the name of the currently logged in user and the current server date.
