Editing engineering document task information
In this page, you can enter the details of the tasks that must be performed while executing the engineering document. Tell me more.
Select the “Edit Task Details” link at the bottom of “Edit Engineering Document” page.
The “Edit Task Information” page appears.
The system displays the following in the “Eng Doc Detail” group box:

The engineering document for which you wish to enter or modify the task details |
Revision # |
The revision number of the engineering document. |
Subject |
The textual description of the engineering document. |
Applicability |
The applicability of the engineering document which could be “Aircraft”, “Component” or “Engine”. |
Enter the following field:
Expense Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the expense type, which could either be “Capital” or “Revenue”. The system displays “Revenue”, by default. |
Enter the following fields in the “Task Details” multiline:

Use the drop-down list box to classify the task. The system displays the following options: |

By default, the system sets this field to “New”. Ensure that the “Operations Type” is selected, if either “New” or “Improvised” option is selected. |

Applicability Group # |
The number identifying the applicability group based on which the engineering task will be executed. This field cannot be left blank if more than one Applicability Group # exists for the engineering document. |
Task # |
The number identifying the task (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. This can be a combination of characters and digits. This number should be unique in the multiline. If you have set the “Task Classifier” as “Existing” or “Improvised”, the task number must have been already defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component. Help facility available. |
Note: The system does not allow you to modify an already associated task number. To delete an associated task, check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline and click the "Delete" button.
Current Revision # |
The revision number for the task (Alphanumeric, 40). This number represents the number of changes the task has undergone. |
New Revision # |
The new revision number of the task (Alphanumeric, 40). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Task Classifier” is set as “New” or “Improvised”. |
Note: For new tasks, ensure that the task number and the new revision number combination must not be already defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component.
Ensure that the combination of the task and the revision number are unique in the multiline.
Task Description |
The textual description of the task (Alphanumeric, 150). Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Task Classifier” is set as “New” or “Improvised”. |
Prog Item Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the program item type. The system lists the values based on the Schedule Type of the engineering document. If the “Schedule Type” of the engineering document is "Perpetual", the system loads the value "Perpetual". If the 'Schedule Type' of the engineering document is "As Required", the system loads the value "As Required" If the 'Schedule Type' of the engineering document is "One-Time" or "Recurring", the system loads the values "Schedule-Tracked", "Non-Tracked" and blank. |
Conditionally Evaluated? |
Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the execution of the task is depends on outcome from the execution of a parent task. You can select from the options “Yes” and “No”. The system displays “No” by default. |
Task Category |
Use the drop-down list box to select the category to which the task belongs. The system lists all active quick codes defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component. |
Task Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type to which the task belongs. The system lists all active quick codes defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component. |
Operations Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the operation type of the maintenance activity. The system lists the following options:

Time Unit |
Use the drop-down list box to select the time unit for the time estimated to complete the task. The system lists the options “Hours”, “Minutes” or “Days”. By default, this field is set to “Hours”. |
Est. Elapsed Time |
The total time estimated for completing the task (Decimal). , Ensure that the number entered in this field is positive. Note that if the “Task Classifier” field in the Task Details multiline is set as “New” or “Improvised” and a value is not specified in this field, the system defaults the Est. Elapsed Time as entered in the “Create Eng Doc” page of the current business component. |
Est. Man Hrs. |
The total man-hours estimated for “skill” type resources, to complete the task (Decimal). . Note that if the “Task Classifier” field in the Task Details multiline is set as “New” or “Improvised” and a value is not specified in this field, the system defaults the Est. Elapsed Time as entered in the “Create Eng Doc” page of the current business component. Ensure that the number entered in this field is positive. You can provide a resource wise breakup for the total estimated man-hours, in the “Edit Resource Requirements” page. If the resource details are entered in the “Edit Resource Requirements” page, the system sets the field to the estimated man-hours, or the sum total of the estimated duration entered for ‘skill’ type resources, whichever is greater. |
DSC # |
The dependent system condition to which the task must be associated (Alphanumeric, 15). The DSC should have already been defined in the “Create DSC” activity of “Maintenance Task” business component, and should be in “Active” status. The DSC contains a list of all the dependent systems and their desired condition to be checked for, before executing the task. |

The name of the file attached to the engineering document (Alphanumeric, 50). You can enter the name of the file that contains the engineering document task details or any other file that is related to engineering document tasks. Help facility available |

Indicates whether piece parts, resources, access panels, work area and zones, sub tasks or notes are entered for the task. The system displays one of the following:
If more than one detail exists for the task, “/” is used as the separator between the values listed above. |

Base Aircraft Model # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the base aircraft model associated to the task. Ensure the Aircraft Model # selected is a valid model with respect to the Applicability Group # entered for Aircraft effectivity Tasks for tasks of “Existing” Task Classifier. |
Note: Ensure that at least one task is entered in the multiline.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the task for deletion, or to enter other details for the task.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the tasks selected in the multiline.
The system deletes the tasks for the engineering document and the revision number combination. The piece part requirement, resource information, access panel information work area and zone information, notes, references and subtasks information of the task are also deleted for the engineering document.
When you delete a ‘New’ task, the system checks whether the task is referred in any other “Fresh” engineering document. If the task is referred, the system classifies the task as “New”, in other engineering documents.
Select the “Edit Sub Tasks” link below the multiline to enter the sub-task information for the task.
Select the “Edit Parts Requirements” link multiline to specify the parts that are required for executing the task.
Select the “Edit Resource Requirements” link multiline to specify the resources that are required for executing the task.
Select the “Edit Parameter Reading / Maint. Evaluation” link to specify the maintenance conditional parameter requirements of a task and to define conditional evaluation of tasks.
Select the “Edit Schedule Information” link to modify the schedule information of the tasks in the Engineering Document.
Select the “Maintain Task Relationship” link to maintain task relationship.
Select the “Edit Work Area / Zone Information” link to specify the work area and the zone where the task has to be executed.
Select the “Edit Certificate Details” link below the multiline to enter the certificate details for the task.
Select the “Edit Notes” link below the multiline to specify general information pertaining to the task.
Select the “Edit Task References” link below the multiline to enter the reference details for the task.
Select the “View File” link below the multiline to view the file details.
Select the “Initialize Eng. Doc. Schedules" link at the bottom of the page to initialize engineering document schedule.
Enter the following fields in the “Reference Document Details” group box:

Select the “View File” link alongside, to view the file details.
Click the “Edit Task Details” pushbutton to add or modify the task details to the engineering document.
For ”improvised” tasks, the system associates the part requirements, resource requirements, access panels, work area and zones, subtasks, task references and notes entered in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component, to the engineering document.
The task type is set to “MOD”, for “new” tasks in the "Maintenance Task" business component.
If the Task Classifier Is set as ‘New’, the system ensures that the Task type is selected for the new work unit.
Note: If the Task Classifier is other than ‘New’ the system ensures that task type is not selected.
When the page appears, the default value in “Task Type” will be ‘Blank’. The “Task Type” in “Maintenance Task” is set to the selected value of the task type in “Edit Task Information”.
If the applicability of the engineering document is “Component” or “Engine” and if the effectivity is “Component”, the system ensures that the work unit available in the component maintenance program / pending tray is not duplicated in the task details of the engineering document.
The system updates,
The estimated elapsed time and the estimated man hours with values entered in the “Create Eng Doc” page if no values are specified in these fields and the “Task Classifier” is set as “New” or “Improvised”.
The engineering document with the task details identified in the multiline.
The expense type identified for engineering document.
Task details from the Task master for all tasks classified as ‘Existing’.
The last modified date with current server date, and last modified user with the login user.
If the revision number and task classifier combination is set as “Improvised” for an aircraft model and the same combination is applicable to other aircraft models which are identified as effective, the system updates the task classifier as “Existing” for those aircraft models.

Editing engineering document task information – An overview
In this page, you can enter the details of the tasks that must be performed while executing the engineering document.
You can select an aircraft model for which the engineering document is applicable and enter the task details.
You can create a new task for the engineering document, or specify an existing task, or enhance the existing task details. For new and enhanced tasks, you can enter the task number, revision number, new revision number in the case of enhanced task, task description, task type, the time unit, the total time and the total man-hours estimated for the task completion. You can also specify the DSC, to check for the desired condition of the various dependent systems before executing the task, and refer to related documents such as AMM and CMM.
If you wish to attach an existing task to the engineering document, you can specify the task number and revision number. The system lists all the other details of the task, as defined in the “Maintenance Task” business component.
The system updates the task details and stores the name of the currently logged in user and the current server date.

You can create a new task for engineering document execution. Details such as the task number, revision number, task description, task type, the time unit, the total time and total man-hours estimated for task completion can be entered.
Set the “Task Classifier” drop-down list box in the multiline to “New”.
Enter the task details in the multiline.
Click the “Edit Task Details” pushbutton.
Attach an existing task to engineering document
A task that is already defined in the “Create Task” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component can be associated to the engineering document. You can enter the task number and the revision number for the task.
Set the “Task Classifier” drop-down list box in the multiline to “Existing”.
Enter the task number and the revision number in the “Task Details” multiline.
Click the “Edit Task Details” pushbutton.
Enhance a task for engineering document
You can add details to an already existing task. Details such as the task number, revision number, new revision number, task description, task type, the time unit, the total time and man-hours estimated for task completion, can be specified.
Set the “Task Classifier” drop-down list box in the multiline to “Improvised”.
Enter the task details in the multiline.
Click the “Edit Task Details” pushbutton.
