Component Maintenance Planning - An Overview
This business component enables the planner to forecast the incidence of scheduled maintenance activities for components, required to ensure the continued serviceability. This forecast of workload enables one to plan in advance for material and resources i.e., skills, facilities, equipment requirements.
The scheduled maintenance of components is driven through pre-defined maintenance programs. The arising of these scheduled maintenance events for the component maintenance planner forecasts a planning horizon and propagated for execution planning.
The component maintenance planning cell for component assesses all the up-coming maintenance activities that need to be executed for the component sets which are due for maintenance, either scheduled or un-scheduled, which is in unserviceable condition. The component maintenance planner finalizes the work scope; allocates the component removals and on-wing inspections to the “Visit Package”, creates work scope or work scope along with the component work order to one of the available facilities for execution or creates a request for repair, if the execution has to be performed by an outside vendor.
