The “Edit Job” activity is one of the activities of the “Unit Structure” component. Through this activity the user can edit a job. This job details you can edit consists of the following:
The relevant attributes of the job.
The organization unit mapping details of the job.
The competencies mapped to the job.
The qualifications required for the job.
The terms and conditions required for the job.
The “Edit Job” activity enables the user to edit the various attributes of a job.
To edit a job, the user should first select the required job from among the various jobs in the organization. You can select the job either by directly entering the code or using the search criteria option. To use the direct entry method, you must know the complete code of the job. If you do not know the complete job code, you can use the search criteria method, wherein you can specify wild card search criteria for the job code, title, job level description and job family details. The system fetches the job records that match the combination of search criteria specified from which you can select the required record to edit.
Following selection of the required record helps to:
View the effective dates of the record.
Make necessary modifications to any of the details of the job.
Specify the save in language.
Specify if you want to map the job to all, selective or login organization units.
Mark the job for deletion.
While editing the job, the user can view the effective dates of the record. The effective dates indicate the dates between which the corresponding version of the record was in effect.
The details of the job that you can edit comprise details such as the title, description, job level description, job family, grade, grade set etc.
To edit the record, you can use one of the two modification options, either “Correct” or “Update”. If you use the “Correct” option, the system changes the record without any change in the effective dates. If you choose the “Update” option, you must provide a new “ Effective from” date. The system closes the existing record with the “Effective to date” as one minute previous to the new “Effective from” date specified and creates a new record with the modifications made.
You can also make the job active or inactive, mark the job for deletion and also specify whether the modifications should be applicable to all, login or selective organization units. If you specify that the modifications should be made applicable to all or only the login organization unit, the system makes the changes applicable accordingly.
In addition, you can also edit the competencies, qualifications and terms and conditions specified for the job.
