Through this activity, you can authorize an increment set that has been processed already.
Increment Set ID and parameter combination: At the outset, you are to retrieve the increment set ID, in combination with one of the following parameters:
The month for which the system must process employees who are eligible; this is applicable for anniversary-based increments, or
The date from which the increment must become effective; this is applicable for adhoc increments.
This combination is required, because the same increment ID may have been processed at different intervals. See Example.
You are to save these parameters.
Session ID: After you specified the parameters, the system checks whether all the prerequisite conditions required for authorizing are satisfied. If they are satisfied, the system generates a Session ID. The generation of the session ID indicates that the employee records are ready for the authorization of the increment set.
The session ID uniquely identifies the authorization that a system carries out on a set of records
Authorization: The system will now identify the processed records for the increment set ID-parameter combination, and update the processed information to the employee’s base salary, in the Employee Compensation Information component. See Updates to Employee Compensation Information component.
Status Before you authorize, the status will be “Initiated”. After you authorize, the status of the increment processing will be changed to “Authorized”.

The increment set must be processed in the “Process Increments” activity.
What you can do in this activity
Use the “Authorize Increment” page to authorize an increment set that is already processed by the system.
Specify the combination of increment set ID and parameters, and select the “Authorize” pushbutton
Example of retrieving an increment set ID-parameter combination
The same increment set ID can be processed many times; every time it is processed, a new session ID is generated. When you want to authorize, abort or reset, you specify just the increment set ID. In response, the system will retrieve the increment set ID in combination with the month during which it was most recently processed. Given below is an example.
On February 27 2003, you retrieved the increment set ID A-MNGR through the “Process Increments” activity, and chose the “Increment Month” to be February because the increment set was anniversary-based.
On February 28 2003, you retrieved the processed increment set ID A-MNGR through the “Authorize Increments” activity The “Increment Month” will display “February” by default. You can authorize the processed increment set ID A-MNGR for which the increment month was “February“.
