The “Create Aircraft Record” page appears.

The system displays the following field:

Date Format

The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default.

Aircraft Reg #

A unique registration number for the aircraft. Aircraft Registration number is allotted to an aircraft by the regulatory authority of the country in which it is registered. (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. Ensure that the number is unique for the organizational unit.

Manufacturer Serial #

The MSN or the manufacturer’s serial number given to the aircraft by the manufacturer at the time of production (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. Ensure that the number is unique for the organizational unit.

Variable Tab #

The unique tab number of the aircraft (Integer). Mandatory. The variable tab number is one of the identifiers of the aircraft. Ensure that the number is unique for the organizational unit.

Note: Ensure that manufacturer serial number and variable tab number are unique for the manufacturer of a particular aircraft model.

The system does not perform the above check for aircraft that are inactivated due to creation of new aircraft registration number, and also for aircraft that are reactivated after creation of new aircraft registration number.

Nose #

The nose number of the aircraft is an aircraft identifier, which is primarily used by the marketing department of an airline (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory.

Aircraft Model #

The model to which the aircraft belongs (Alphanumeric, 20). Mandatory. Ensure that the model number is already defined in the “Create Aircraft Model” activity and is in “Active” status.

Creating aircraft record – An overview

Create Aircraft Record - A summary of the activity

You can define the details of the aircraft directly or copy the details from an existing aircraft. The aircraft is identified by a unique registration number given by the regulatory authority, serial number given by the manufacturer for easy identification, tab number and a nose number. The nose number is primary used by marketing department for easy identification of the aircraft. The aircraft is associated with an aircraft model so that it inherits the parameters that are already defined for the aircraft model. You can enter the aircraft model directly or select an aircraft model using the help facility. If the aircraft is identified as the item in the “Inventory”, you can also enter the inventory item number of the aircraft.

The structure of the aircraft is identified by the configuration class attached to it. The system displays the configuration classes that are defined for the aircraft model, from which you can select the configuration class to which the aircraft belongs. The system copies the configuration details of the aircraft model and the configuration class selected here while creating the aircraft.

The ownership details of the aircraft, such as the registration certificate number, date of issue of the certificate and the regulatory authority of the aircraft can be entered. If the aircraft has been taken on lease or if it was leased out to another airline operator, the type of the lease should be specified. There are two types of lease, namely, wet lease and dry lease. “Wet lease” indicates that the airline operator taking the aircraft on lease should carry out the maintenance activities on the aircraft. ”Dry lease” indicates that the owner of the aircraft should carry out the maintenance activities on the aircraft.

Note: Lease is a contract by which the owner of the aircraft allows another airline operator to use the aircraft for a specified period of time. Lessee is the airline operator who operates the aircraft on lease and less or is the actual owner of the aircraft.

The organizational unit, in which the maintenance activities are carried out, is identified as the maintenance base for the aircraft. Details such as the name of the planner, the date on which the aircraft is inducted to the system and the date, from which the aircraft will be put to operation, must be entered. The type, usage and the condition of the aircraft, whether operational or under maintenance, can be specified. For example, the aircraft type can be “Wide-body” and “Narrow body” and “Usage Type” can be “Passenger” and “Combi”.

The lead parameter, which indicates the life of the aircraft, can be specified along with its average daily utilization. Maintenance activities to be carried out on the aircraft can be forecast based on the average daily utilization of the lead parameter. You can enter the lead parameter directly or select a lead parameter using the help facility.

Note: A lead parameter is identified from a set of consumption parameters defined for the aircraft, based on the importance of the parameter in indicating the life of the aircraft. For example, if flight hours and flight cycles are identified as the consumption parameters for the aircraft, you can choose one of them as the lead parameter, and this parameter may indicate the life of an aircraft

The commercial details of the aircraft such as the purchase order number, purchase order date, value at which the aircraft was acquired and the present book value of the aircraft can be entered, along with any other additional information relevant for carrying out maintenance activities of the aircraft.

Associate configuration class to aircraft

This logical structure, depicting the skeleton of the aircraft, is basically defined at the aircraft model level. The aircraft registration numbers associated to the model can inherit these logical structures. Once inherited, the logical structure becomes an independent entity for that particular aircraft, which means, the structure can be modified without affecting the structure from where it was inherited.

The system displays the various configuration classes associated to the aircraft model and you can select the configuration class, which you wish to associate to the aircraft.

The system copies the configuration details defined for the aircraft model and configuration class to the aircraft that is being defined.

Specify aircraft ownership details

You can specify the ownership details of the aircraft, which could be “Owned”, “Leased”, “Leased Out” or "Customer".

Specify lease type

You can specify the type of lease for the “Leased” or “Leased Out” aircraft.

Specify the maintenance base for an aircraft

The maintenance base is the default location or organizational unit where the aircraft can be serviced.

Specify multiple conditions for an aircraft

You can specify the condition of the aircraft. This facilitates the tracking of the present condition of a given aircraft.

Specify the type of the aircraft

You can specify the aircraft type which could be “Wide-Body”, “Narrow Body” etc., The aircraft type are defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity. The system lists all the quick codes defined for the aircraft type in the “Aircraft Type” drop-down list box.

Specify the usage type of the aircraft

You can specify the usage type which could be “Passenger”, “Cargo”, “Combi” etc., The usage type are defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity. And the system lists all the quick codes defined for the usage type in the “Usage Type” drop-down list box.
