Record Your Learning Track – A summary of the activity
Through this activity, you as an employee/trainee can monitor your performance in a training course.
To track improvement in your work performance owing to training, you must record the following events.
Pre-course discussion: This event occurs before the commencement of a course between the supervisor and the trainee/employee. First, the trainee records the proposed objectives and performance targets, and comments, on the course. Next, the supervisor records his/her views. This event is not mandatory and hence can be omitted for a course.
Post-course discussion: During this event which is conducted after the course, the supervisor and the trainee decide on the learning objectives and targets, which are final. First the employee and then the supervisor record their views in this event. This event is not mandatory and hence can be omitted for a course.
Post-course review: The supervisor evaluates the performance of the employee in the review process against the targets set in the post-course discussion and records the details. This event is mandatory for a course.

Employee has to be sponsored for a course inorder to conduct pre course discussion.
It is mandatory to get enrolled for a course inorder to conduct post course discussion or post course review.
What you can do in this activity
Select the course for which you want to record the learning details
Record the details of the discussion held prior to the commencement of the course
Record the details of the discussion held after the completion of the course
Record the details of the review conducted after the completion of the course
Typically, in this event, a trainee sets the performance targets, dates by which the targets must be achieved, and the objectives and benefits of a training course. Pre-course discussion can be conducted subsequent to sponsorship/registration/enrollment of an employee to a course.
The following process parameters affect the pre course discussion event. (You set process parameters in the Training General Information component.)
The Pre-course Discussion Necessary parameter determines whether the pre course discussion is necessary for a course. If this parameter is set to "Yes", it is mandatory to record the details of pre course discussion.
The parameter Pre-course Discussion Days specifies the number of days prior to the start date of the course, by which the pre course discussion must be complete. For example, if the course commences on 15th February, you can enter a value of "7" in this field to imply that the pre course discussion must conclude by 8th February.
The parameter Pre-course Mail Notification Days determines the date on which an email notification about the commencement of the course is sent to the enrolled employees. For example, if you enter "10" as the "Pre Course Mail Notification Days” parameter, and the course commences on 15th February, the system will compute 5th February to be date on which the email notification must be sent.
In the post course discussion, which is held at the end of training, supervisors analyze the learning objectives of the course with trainees. In some instances, these learning objectives may be different from the objectives that were set in the pre course discussion. The learning objectives arrived at in the post course discussion are final and replace the objectives set in the pre course discussion, and used to evaluate the performance of the employee in the post course review.
Both the supervisor and the subordinate/trainee record the event.
If the process parameter Post-course Follow-up Necessary is set to “Yes”, it is mandatory for the supervisor to conduct and record the post-course discussion.
The process parameter Post-course Discussion Days specifies the days after the course end-date, before which the supervisor must complete the post-course discussion. For example, if a training course ends on 15th February, and the user specifies "10" in this field, the post-course discussion can be conducted on any day from 15th February till 25th February.
The process parameter Post-course Mail Notification Days enables the system to determine the date on which email reminders on post course discussion are sent to trainees and supervisors. For example, if you specify "5" in this field and, the course end-date is 31st January, mails are sent on 5th February to trainees and supervisors.

The supervisor conducts the post course review to evaluate the improvement in the efficiency of the employee as a result of training. Typically the review is carried out at the end of a specified period of observation after training. The performance of the employee is evaluated against the objectives and targets fixed in the post course discussion during this period. The post-course review is conducted only after the post course discussion. However, if post course discussion is not required for a course, the post course review can be conducted straightway after the course.
This event is mandatory, and solely recorded by the supervisor.
The following process parameters influence this event.
The process parameter Post-course Follow-up Necessary determines whether the supervisor must conduct the post-course review of the subordinate, who has completed the training course. If this process parameter is set to “Yes”, then it becomes mandatory for the supervisor to conduct and record the details of the post course review. If the parameter holds a value of “No” for a course, the post course review is not needed.
The process parameter Post-course Discussion Review Days determines the date before which the supervisor must conduct the post course review. It specifies the days, from the post course discussion, before which the supervisor must complete the review. Courses for which the Post-course Follow-up Necessary is set to “No”, review is conducted after the course. For example, if a course for which post course discussion is not necessary concludes on 15th January, and you specify 10 in this field, the post course review is to be completed before 25th January. However if post-course discussion is necessary and is scheduled before 25th January, the review is to be complete by 4th February.
