Prerequisites

What you can do in this activity

Through this activity, the appraiser can select an employee and perform evaluation. The performance evaluation template appears, in which you are to carry out the following:

Evaluate the employee’s objectives or targets. This consists of recording the employee’s achievements against each of the objectives, assigning a specific weightage to each, and grading the objective. Tell me more. The system displays the employee’s self-rating for each objective; this is only if the self-appraisal is completed before the performance appraisal.

Evaluate the employee for other other duties or projects undertaken. For each project or assignment of the employee, you are to specify the desired target versus the actual achievement. You can record the assessment and comments specific to the project. Additionally, you are to assign a specific weightage to each project,  in comparison with the other projects, and the grade for the project. The system displays the employee’s self-rating for each project

Compute Appraisal Rating

Shown below is the method by which the system computes the overall appraisal rating, using an example. In this example, company ABC has defined the range of ratings for each appraisal grade.

There are two appraisers, each one with the following appraiser weightages:

The appraisal calendar is CAL-1, and the appraisal type is “Annual Appraisal”. For this calendar and appraisal type, the appraisal rating/grading could be based on either of the following, in the “Record Appraisal Calendar” activity

The ratings for each appraisal grade are defined as follows:

Rating From

Rating To

Appraisal Grade

0.0

1.0

1  - Performance is unsatisfactory

1.1

2.0

2  - Does not meet most of the expectations

2.1

3.0

3 - Consistently meets most of the expectations

3.1

4.0

4  - Exceeds most of the expectations

4.1

5.0

5  - Consistently exceeds all the expectations

If “Mean Value Rating” has been selected

The system will compute the appraisal ratings as follows

Note: The appraisal grade must be determined, by rounding down the overall appraiser rating value as below:

FLOOR (overall appraiser rating) = FLOOR (2.60) = 2 = ‘Does not meet most of the expectations’.

But the overall appraiser rating must remain a numeric value with two decimals.
