Allocate Work Units – A summary of the activity
The “Allocate Work units” activity enables you to allocate work. The planner allocates work units to a primary work center according to its capacity and capability. You can select the aircraft for which you need to look for planning the work units to be executed. For the selected aircraft, you can select the work units that you need to allocate for execution or execute other options. After selecting the work units, you can execute the work units through any one of the following options:
The selected work units can be moved into a new visit package and executed in a major maintenance (Hangar) execution facility.
Alternately, the work units can be assigned to an existing (already created) visit package.
In the event of resource constraints leading to an inability to schedule the maintenance activity before the prescribed compliance date, you can request for or defer the selected work units.
You can preclude the work units due to the execution of a higher-level maintenance activity.
This activity also enables you to view the loading pattern of an execution center and the capability of an execution facility, before allocating the work units.

What you can do in this activity
Select the aircraft for which you need to plan maintenance activities
Assign pending work units to a visit package
Create deferment request and specify deferral limits for a work unit
View the workload pattern of an execution center and the execution capabilities of a work center
Select the aircraft for which you need to plan maintenance activities
You can search for and select the aircraft that might require immediate planning efforts.
Use the “Select Aircraft” page, to search for and select the aircraft.
Assign pending work units to a visit package
You can search for and select the work units for which the job status is “Pending”. You can assign these work units to an existing visit package or create a new visit package with the selected work units.
Select an aircraft in the “Select Aircraft” page.
Select the work units in the “Select Work Units” page.
Enter the visit package number to assign the work units to an already existing visit package.
To create a new visit package, select the “Create New Visit Package” link at the bottom of the page.
The system displays the “Create Visit Package” page.
Use the “Create Visit Package” page to create a new visit package with the selected work units and assign it to a maintenance execution unit.
Create deferment request and specify deferral limits for a work unit
You can create a deferment request for a work unit that you wish to defer due to resource constraints or any other reason. You can also specify the deferral limits for the work unit. The deferral limits determine the time till which the work unit is deferred.
Select the work unit in the “Select Work Units" page.
Select the “Create Request for Deferrals” link at the bottom of the page.
The system displays the “Create Request For Deferrals” page.
Enter the deferment details and click the “Create Request” pushbutton to create the deferment for the work unit.
Select the “Edit Deferral Limit” link at the bottom of the page.
The system displays the “Edit Deferral Limits” page.
Use the “Edit Deferral Limits” page to specify the deferral limits for the work unit.
You can preclude a work unit that becomes redundant, if a higher-level maintenance activity is allocated to a visit package. The precluded work unit will not be executed. It will be deemed as executed on the execution of the higher-level job.
Select the work unit that you need to preclude, in the “Select Work Units” page.
Select the “Preclude Work Units” link at the bottom of the page.
The system displays the “Preclude Work Units” page.
Use the “Preclude Work Units” page, to preclude a work unit to a suitable superseding work unit.
View the workload pattern of an execution center and the execution capabilities of a work center
You can view the workload pattern of an execution center before allocating the work units. Similarly, you can analyze the execution capabilities of a work center before assigning a work unit to it.
Use the “Execution Center Work Load” page, to view the load pattern for an execution center.
Use the “View Work Center Capability” page, to view all the work centers that are capable of executing a particular work unit.
