Modifying work package information
This page enables you to modify the details of the selected work package. Tell me more.
Select the “Edit Work Package” link displayed alongside direct entry group box of “Select Work package” page. Alternatively, click the hyperlinked work package number in the multiline of the same page.
The “Edit Work Package” page appears.
The system displays the following in the “Work Package Details” group box:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields must be displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
Work Package # |
The number identifying the selected work package for which the details are to be modified. |

Enter the following fields to modify the details of the selected work package:
Work Package Description |
The textual description of the work package (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory. |
Primary Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the work center where the work package has to be performed (Alphanumeric, 30). The system lists all the “Active” work centers defined in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” business component. |
The system fills in the following details when you click the “Edit Work Package” pushbutton:

Enter the following:
Ref. Document Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the reference document. The system lists all the reference document types defined in the “Create Reference Document Type” activity of the “Common Master” business component. |
Ref. Document # |
The number identifying the reference document. |
Work Package Type |
The type of the work package. |
Status |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the status of the work package to “Active” or “Inactive”. |
Set the status as “Inactive” if you wish to disable the work package from future reference in other activities.
Remarks |
Additional remarks pertaining to the modification of the work package (Alphanumeric, 255). Typically the reason for modifying the work package can be entered here. |
Enter the following in the “Execution Details” group box:
Est. Man Hrs. |
The estimated man hours for completing the work package (Decimal). |

Estimated Duration |
The total time estimated for completing the work package (Decimal). Mandatory. The estimated duration also includes the time required for performing the pre-execution or the post-execution tasks such as getting tools ready and cleaning up work. The estimated duration should be a positive number. Use the drop-down list box provided alongside, to specify the unit of measurement for the estimated duration, which could be “Minutes”, “Hours” or “Days”. |
Turn Around Time |
The total estimated duration and the idle time required to carry out the work package (Decimal). This should be a positive value. Ensure that the value entered is greater than the "Estimated Duration" value. |
Wrench Time |
The total time estimated for the actual execution of the work package (Decimal). The value entered must be positive. |
Ideal Time |
The ideal time recommended for the completion of the work package (Decimal). The ideal time of the work package is estimated based on the ideal time recommended by the OEMs for each work unit in the work package. The value entered must be positive. |
Note: The time unit selected for the “Est. Duration” is set as the time unit for the Turn Around Time, Wrench Time and Ideal Time.
Enter the following in the “Work Scope Details” multiline:
Seq # |
The number identifying the sequence of the work package. Ensure that the value entered here is a positive value and is not a duplicate value. |
Work Unit Type |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the type of the work unit, which could be “Task” or “Standard Procedure”. |
Work Unit # |
The number identifying the task or standard procedure to be included in the work package (Alphanumeric, 30). The task number and the standard procedure number must be already defined in the “Create Task” and “Create Standard Procedure” activities respectively of the “Maintenance Task” business component and they should be in the “Active” status. |

Note: In the event of modifying an already associated work unit type and work unit number, the system displays an error message. Also, to delete an existing work unit, check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline and click the "Delete" icon.
Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the work center where the work unit has to be performed (Alphanumeric, 30). The system lists all the “Active” work centers defined in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” business component and leaves the field blank by default. |

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the work unit has to be definitely performed or not, which could be one of the following: |

Starting Day |
The day from which the execution of the work unit must be started (Integer). Ensure that the value entered here is positive and greater that zero.If this field is left blank, the system updates the value “1” on clicking the “Edit Work Package” pushbutton. |
Expense Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the expense type of the work units. The system provides the following options:
The system displays the value “Revenue” by default. |
The system fills in the following fields when you click the “Edit Work Package” pushbutton:

Work Center Description |
The textual description of the work center. |
Note: Ensure that at least one work unit is entered in the multiline.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the work units for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the toolbar above the multiline, to delete the selected work units.
Click the “Re-number” pushbutton to re-number the work packag.
The system performs the following on clicking the Re-number pushbutton:
If you wish to insert tasks in the multiline and assign sequence number for them, click the “Re-Number” pushbutton to rearrange the existing rows in the ascending order of the sequence number. The system regenerates the sequence number in multiples of five, thereby enabling you to specify the sequence number for the newly added sub task .
Note: The existing sequence numbers cannot be rearranged or modified, if a new task or standard procedure is added in the multiline.
The records in the multiline including the Starting Day are refreshed.
Select the “Edit Work Package” pushbutton to modify the work package information.
The system performs the following on clicking the Create Work Package pushbutton:
Generates the sequence numbers incremented by 1 starting from the largest of the current sequence numbers in those rows for which sequence numbers are not specified in the multiline.
Generates the serial number (starting from 1) in the Seq # as per the position of the records in the multiline for each MPType.
Generates the serial number starting from the last serial number that is allotted for the records which do not have a seq # in the multiline.
Updates the “Est.Man.Hrs” field in the Execution Details Data Cluster with the value which is the sum of estimated man hours for the tasks in the “Maintenance Task” business component, if the value entered in the “Est.Man.Hrs” field is less than the sum value, else updates the value entered in the “Est.Man.Hrs” field. All the estimated time entered are converted into hours based on the conversion factors defined in the “Common Masters” business component.
While deleting a work unit in the multiline, if the “Resolve Relationship” box is checked, the system automatically assigns a “Finish – Start” relationship between the work units preceding and succeeding the work unit being deleted, deletes all the predecessor work unit that are marked for deletion and deletes the reference work unit from the predecessor work unit list for the work package.
If the records in the multiline are marked for deletion, then the system deletes all the parts and resources specified for the respective work unit code for the work package.
Deletes all the records that are marked for deletion.

To proceed, carry out the following.
Select the “Edit Date Based Schedule” link at the bottom of the page to specify the date-based schedule details.
Select the “Edit Usage Based Schedule” link at the bottom of the page to specify the usage-based schedule details.
Select the “Edit Relationship Details” link at the bottom of the page to define/modify the relationship details of the work package
Select the “Estimate Materials” link at the bottom of the page to modify parts that are required for executing the work package.
Select the “Estimate Resource – Facilities” link at the bottom of the page to modify the resources of the facilities type that are required for executing the work package.
Select the “Estimate Resource – Skill” link at the bottom of the page to modify the resources of the skills type that are required for executing the work package.
Select the “Edit Work Package in Programs” link at the bottom of the page to update the work units information in programs.
Select the “Edit Part Effectivity” link at the bottom of the page to modify the part for which the work package is applicable.
Select the “View Work Center Details” link at the bottom of the page to view the details of the work center.
Select the “View Customer Effectivity” link provided at the bottom of the page, to view the customer effectivity details.
The system displays the following in the “Record Statistics” group box:
Created By |
The name of the user who created the part maintenance program. |
Created Date |
The date on which the part maintenance program was created. |
Last Modified By |
The name of the user who last modified the part maintenance program. |
Last Modified Date |
The date on which the part maintenance program was last modified. |
Note: The system updates the “Last Modified By” and “Last Modified Date” of the Work Package # with the login User and the current server date respectively.
Modifying work package information – An overview
This page enables you to modify the details of the selected work package. Details such as the work package description, its status, category, type, primary work center, total estimated duration and turn around time can be modified.
The work unit details such as work unit number, its type, work center where the work unit has to be performed and whether the work unit has to be definitely performed or not, can be modified.
The system updates the details of the work package and stores the name of the currently logged in user and the current server date.
“Create Task” activity in the “Maintenance Task” business component.
“Create Standard Procedure” activity in the “Maintenance Task” business component.
Indicate the primary work center for the work package
Indicate the reference document details
Modify the primary work center for the work package
You can specify the work center where the work package has to be executed.
Select the work center in the “Primary Work Center” field.
Enter the other work package details.
Click the “Edit Work Package” pushbutton.
The system stores the work package details along with the work center.
Modify the reference document details
You can provide reference document details for the work package. You can specify the type of the reference document and the reference document number.
Select the type of the reference document in the “Ref. Document Type” field.
Enter the reference document number in the “Ref. Document #” field.
Enter the other work package details.
Click the “Edit Work Package” pushbutton.
The system stores the work package details along with the reference document details.
You can specify the type of the work unit that has to be associated with the work package. The type of the work unit can be “Task” or “Standard Procedure”.
Set the “Work Unit Type” field as “Task” to associate the task with the work package.
Set the “Work Unit Type” field as “Standard Procedure” to associate the standard procedure with the work package.
