Assigning work group or employees to the work order
You can enter the employee number in the multiline along with other details such as the date and time for which the employee is assigned, time unit and the number of hours for which the employee is assigned in a day. You can assign the employee to the same task more than once on different assignment dates.
Select the “Assign Crew/ Employee” link in the “Select work order” page of the “Plan Work Order” activity.
The “Assign Work Group /Employee(s)” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date & Time Format |
The format in which the date and time fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date and time format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Work Order Details” group box:
Work Order # |
The work order for which the work group is to be assigned |
Work Order Description |
The textual description of the work order. Zoom facility available. |
Enter the following field:
Task # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the task for which the resource details are to be assigned. The system lists all the tasks that are already associated to the work order. The system displays the number as a combination of the task number and sequence number. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton to retrieve the work order task details..
The system displays the following field:
Task Description |
The textual description of the task. Zoom facility available. |
Aircraft Reg # |
The number that identifies the aircraft for which the visit package is created. |
Visit Package # |
The number that identifies the visit package for which the work order is raised. |
Status |
The status of the work order, which could be “Fresh”, “Scheduled” or “In-Progress”. |
Work Center # |
The work center that is responsible for the execution of the work order task or work order. |
Sch. Start Date |
The scheduled start date of the work order task or the work order . |
Sch. End Date |
The scheduled end date of the work order task or the work order |
Enter the following fields in the “Work Group Assignment Details” group box:
Work Group # |
The identifier for the work group that you need to assign (Alphanumeric, 15). Help facility available. |
Note: You can assign only those work groups for which the work group applicability is either “Hangar” or “Line & Hangar”.
The system displays the following:
Name |
The name of the work group that you need to assign |
Work Center# |
The work center to which the work group is attached. |
Enter the following:
Hours / Day |
The total number of hours in a day, for which the work group or employee is assigned to the selected work order (Decimal). Ensure this is a positive value. The system updates this value in the “Hours / Day” field in the multiline, if it is left blank. |
Assign : From Date & Time |
The default date and time from which the work group or employee is assigned to the selected work order (Date and Time Format). The system updates these values in the “From Date” and “From Time” fields in the multiline, if they are left blank. |
Assign : To Date & Time |
The default date and time till which the work group or employee is assigned to the selected work order (Date and Time Format). The system updates these values in the “To Date” fields in the multiline, if they are left blank. |

Additional details pertaining to the work group assignment. (Alphanumeric, 255) Zoom facility available. |
Enter the following fields in the “Default Dates” group box:
Assign : From Date & Time |
The default date and time from which the work group is assigned to the selected work order (Date and Time Format). The system updates these values in the “From Date” and “From Time” fields in the multiline, if they are left blank. This type of updation is useful, if you wish to assign a large number of work orders or tasks for the same date and time. |
Assign : To Date |
The default date and time till which the work group is assigned to the selected work order (Date and Time Format). The system updates these values in the “To Date” and “To Time” fields in the multiline, if they are left blank. |
Hours / Day |
The total number of hours in a day, for which the work group is assigned to the selected work order (Decimal). Ensure this is a positive value. The system updates this value in the “Hours / Day” field in the multiline, if it is left blank. |
The system displays the following in the “Customer Details” group box:
Note: The system retrieves and displays only those records that are not in frozen status.
Customer # |
The number identifying the customer, who owns the aircraft. |
Customer Name |
The name of the customer who owns the aircraft. |
Customer Order # |
The number identifying the order placed by the customer. |
Aircraft Release Date |
The date on which the aircraft should be released to the customer, after the completion of the work order. |
Note: The "Customer #" and "Customer Name" fields are applicable only when the aircraft is not self-owned and the customer details are recorded in the system.
Enter the following fields in the “Employee Assignment Details” multiline:
Employee # |
The code identifying the employee for whom you wish to assign work order tasks or work orders (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. Help facility available. |
Note: You cannot modify a employee that is already assigned to the work order. You cannot assign a work order, which is in the “Cancelled”, “Completed” or “Closed” status.
From Date |
The date from which the employee is assigned to the work order (Date Format). Ensure this date is not earlier than the scheduled start of the work order. If you leave this field blank, the system updates the default “From” date value from the “Default Details” group box. |
From Time |
The time from which the employee is assigned to the work order (Time Format). If you leave this field blank, the system updates the default “From” time value from the “Default Details” group box. |
To Date |
The date till which the employee is assigned to the work order (Date Format). Ensure this date is greater than or equal to the “From Date” and lesser than the scheduled end date of the work order. If you leave this field blank, the system updates the default “To” date value from the “Default Details” group box. |
The system displays the following:
To Time |
The time till which the work order is assigned to the employee (Time Format). If you leave this field blank, the system updates the default “To” time value from the “Default Details” group box. |
Enter the following:
Hours / Day |
The total number of hours per day the work order is assigned to the employee (Decimal). Ensure this is a positive value. If you leave this field blank, the system updates this field with the the value from the “Hours / Day” field in the “Default Details” group. |
The system displays the following fields:
Assignment Type |
The type of assignment, that is, whether the employee is assigned to the work order directly or through the work group. |
Enter the following:

Any additional comments pertaining to the employee work assignment (Alphanumeric, 255) Zoom facility available. |
The system displays the following fields:
Employee Name |
The name of the employee |
Work center # |
The work center in which the work order is executed. |
Primary Skill # |
The number that identifies the primary skill of the employee. |
Resource Group |
The resource group, such as “Mechanic”, “Inspector” or “Others”, to which the employee belongs. |
Productivity Factor |
The number that indicates the efficiency of the employee on a 0 to 1 scale. |
Enter the following fields in the “Change User Status To’ group box:
Change to : User Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the user-defined status. The system lists all the “active” quick codes of type “User Status” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the current business component. Leave this field blank, if you do not wish to change the user-defined status of the work orders. |

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the work group or employee to be assigned to work order.
Click the “Delete” icon in the toolbar above the multiline, to delete the work group or employee selected in the multiline.
Click the “Assign” pushbutton to assign the work orders to the employee.
The system assigns the work group or employee to the work order, only if there is no leave approved for any time duration or date falling within the date and time range required for performing the work order.. If you have entered the re-assignment details, the system re-assigns the selected work group or employee to the new work orders selected. The system stores the name of the login user and the current server date as the last modified date of the work group.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “View Work Information” link at the bottom of the page to view the work information details.
Select the “View Skill Assignments” link at the bottom of the page to view the skills assigned for the selected work order.
Select the “View Skill Requirements” link at the bottom of the page to view the skills required for the selected work order.
Select the “View Employee Loading” link at the bottom of the page to view the employee load.
Select the “View Employee Availability” link at the bottom of the page to view the employee availability.
“Create Work Order” activity. The work order must NOT be in the “Cancelled”, “Completed” or “Closed” status.
