Authorize Subordinates Assignment Competency - A summary of the activity
Through this activity, an authorizer / HR user can authorize the request made by a supervisor for mapping employee assignment competencies to his subordinates.
At the outset, the system displays the list of subordinates whose mapping is either pending for authorization or has been authorized already. The status of authorization is displayed, as well. You can select the subordinate, and enter the “Authorize Subordinates Assignment Competencies” page.
This page displays the existing competencies of the subordinate employee, and allows the authorizer to
Edit the competency mapping details, if required
Authorize the mapping of assignment competencies to the subordinate, or reject it.
Editing the competency mapping details: The procedure for mapping additional assignment competencies is as follows:
Entering the code of this assignment competency. You can enter the code of an existing competency through Help, or enter a new competency code.
Specifying the minimum level desired of the competency
Specifying the weightage of the competency, in comparison with the other competencies of the employee
Indicating whether the competency is mandatory or not
Requesting the system to compute the competency weightage, in percentage
Authorizing or rejecting the competency mapping: You can directly authorize the competency mapping or edit the competency mapping details and then authorize them.
When authorized, these mappings of competencies are updated for the employee in the Personal Information component, in the “Record Competency Information” activity. The mappings are also updated in Self Service, in the “Request Subordinate’s Competencies” activity
Alternatively, you can reject the competency mapping details, and enter the reason for the rejection.

The minimum desired level of a competency indicates the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in an employee. For example, if the MDL for the competency “Communication Skills” is 3 or 4, it indicates the minimum extent to which the competency must be present in the employee. In this example, the maximum value of the competency is set as 5, in the system parameters.
This refers to a number to indicate the importance of the competency, in comparison with all the other competencies listed for the subordinate. Note that the system allows you to nullify the weightage of an existing competency, by changing its weightage to zero.
Additionally, you can also view the job competencies, department and position competency mapping. The competencies are mapped to the department, job, and position accordingly. Apart from this you can also view the assignment competency.
