Recording warehouse information
You can enter a unique number to identify the warehouse and provide description for it. Tell me more
Select the “Create Warehouse Information” link under the “Storage Administration” business component.
The “ Create Warehouse Information” page appears.
Enter the following fields in the “Warehouse Identification Details” group box:
Warehouse # |
A unique number identifying the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 10). Mandatory. This can be a combination of characters and digits. This number should be unique across organizational units, if the “System Parameter” activity is set to “Yes” in the “Logistics Common Master” business component. Otherwise, the warehouse number can be the same in the various organization units in which it is defined. |
Note: If there are multiple installations of this business component in different organizational units, the uniqueness of the warehouse number will depend on the organizational model. Refer to the Systems Manual for more details.
Description |
The textual description of the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory. |
Warehouse Type |
The storage type of the warehouse, which could be one of the following: (Mandatory) |

The system sets the field to “Free” by default. |

Finance Book |
The code identifying the finance book associated with the warehouse. Ensure that the finance book entered is in “Active” status and as defined in the “Enterprise Setup” business component. Help facility available. |
Storage Location |
The code defined under a station to which multiple warehouses can be mapped. The parts are stored in a warehouse. The system displays all the storage locations defined and saved as “Active” status in the “Maintain Storage Location” activity. This field is mandatory if the “Warehouse #” is entered. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Warehouse Category |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the category to which the warehouse belongs. The system displays all the categories defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity for the quick code type "Warehouse Category". Leave this field blank if you do not wish to assign a category to the warehouse. |
Warehouse Group |
Use the drop-down list and select the warehouse group. The system lists all the ‘Active’ Warehouse Groups defined under the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the “Storage Administration” business component. By default, the system leaves the field blank. |
To copy warehouse details
Enter the following in the “Copy Details From” group box, if you wish to create warehouse by copying the existing warehouse information:

The number identifying the warehouse in the OU from which the details are to be copied (Alphanumeric, 10). |
Click the ”Get Details” pushbutton.
The system copies all the details from the warehouse specified in the “ Warehouse #” field.
Note: The system also copies “Finance Book” details , if available.
Planning Parameter: If the new warehouse is created using the copy option, the system will not copy planning parameters to the new warehouse, if:
The Copy Option is All or Planning Parameters.
The new warehouse allows offline usage.
The Replenishment Activity By for at least one part in the copy warehouse is Purchase Order or Purchase Request.
Click the “Create Warehouse Information” pushbutton, to create a new warehouse with the copied details.
Check one or more of the following boxes in the “Copy Option” group box:

Check this box to copy all the options such as zone, bin, transaction, storage allocation, storage strategies, user information, part type mapping, stock status mapping, warehouse parameters in the warehouse and the user rights. |
Transaction |
Check this box to copy the transaction mapping details in the warehouse. |
Storage Allocation |
Check this box to copy the allocation details in the warehouse. |
Note: If the “Storage Allocation” box is enabled, the zone and bin details are also copied along with the storage allocation details. |

Check this box to copy all the information pertaining to zones and bins in the respective fields. |
Stock Status |
Check this box to copy the stock status mapping details in the warehouse. |
Storage Strategies |
Check the box to copy the storage strategy details. |
Note: If the “Storage Strategies” box is enabled, the zone and bin details are also copied along with the storage details. |

Check this box to copy all the users mapped to the warehouse. |
Part Type |
Check this box to copy the part types mapped to the warehouse. |
Planning Parameters |
Check this box to copy the planning parameter details of the warehouse. |
Enter the following field in the “Address Details” group box:
Address |
The address of the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 255). |
City |
The city where the warehouse is located (Alphanumeric, 32). |
State |
The state where the warehouse is located (Alphanumeric, 32). |
Zip Code |
The postal code of the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 15). |
Country |
The country where the warehouse is located (Alphanumeric, 20). Smart Search enabled. |
Tax Region |
Use the drop-down list box and select the taxation region in which the warehouse is located. The system lists all the ‘Active’ quick codes defined for the Entity ‘Tax Region’ in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the “Quick Codes” business component. |
Warehouse Incharge |
The employee code of the warehouse in-charge, who is responsible for controlling the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 15). The employee code must have been defined in the “Set Warehouse–Access Privileges” activity of the current business component. |

The system fills in the following field on clicking the “Create Warehouse Information” pushbutton.
Incharge Name |
The name of the warehouse incharge. |
Check one or more of the following boxes in the “Warehouse Settings” group box:
All Part Types Allowed |
Check this box to allow storage of all types of parts, defined in the “Create Part Main Information” activity of “Part Administration” business component, in the warehouse. |
All Transactions Allowed |
Check this box to allow all transactions that are predefined in the system, in the warehouse. |
All Stock status Allowed |
Check this box to allow storage of stocks that are in any user defined stock status, defined in the “Create User Defined Stock Status” activity of the “User Defined Stock Status” business component, in the warehouse. |
Allow Reservation / Hard Allocation |
Check this box to allow the parts in the warehouse to be reserved or hard allocated. |
Allow Backflushing |
Check this box to allow the parts in the warehouse to be back flushed. Back flushing means, the inventory stock is reduced based on the consumption report of the parts. |
Allow Offline Usage |
Indicates whether the warehouse can be used for stock transactions in an offline area. Select the check box to enable the warehouse to be used during offline field operations. Note: You can select the check box only if “Offline System Applicable?” Is Yes in the Set Global Parameters activity of the Installation Parameter Setup component. |

Volume |
The volume of the stock stored in the warehouse (Decimal). It is mandatory to enter the volume, if “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Volume”. Ensure that the physical data of the part is in volume as defined in the “Create Part Main Information” activity of the “Part Administration” business component. |
Volume UOM |
The unit of measurement in which the volume of the part is measured (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement” ” business component and must be in “Active” status. |
This field must not be left blank, if the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Volume” and the “Volume” field is entered. |

Weight |
The weight of the stock stored in the warehouse (Decimal). It is mandatory to enter the weight, if “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Weight”. Ensure that the physical data of the part is in weight as defined in the “Create Part Main Information” activity of the “Part Administration” business component. |
Weight UOM |
The unit of measurement in which the part is weighed (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component and must be in “Active” status. |
This field must not be left blank, if the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Weight” and the “Weight” field is entered. |

Enter the following in the “Attachments” group box:
File Name |
The name of the file used for document reference that is associated to the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 50). Help facility available. |
Select the “View File” link provided alongside, to view the details of the file associated to the warehouse.
Click the “Create Warehouse Information” pushbutton to create the warehouse details.
Note: The system creates the warehouse number and set the status as "Active".
The system ensures that the ‘Country’ field entered is same as ISO Country Code in “View Country” of “Organization Setup” business component, if the Set option "Valid Country Defined in Warehouse Master as same as in Country Master" is set as "Required" in the “Set Inventory Process Parameters” activity of the “Logistics Common Master” business component.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Create Zone Information” link at the bottom of the page to define the zones for the warehouse for which the storage type is “Normal”.
Select the “Edit Warehouse - Stock Status / Condition Allowed” link at the bottom of the page to specify the stock statuses and the component conditions that are allowed in the warehouse.
Select the “Select Transactions Allowed” link at the bottom of the page to specify the transactions that are allowed in the warehouse.
Select the “Select Part Types Allowed” link at the bottom of the page to specify the part types allowed in the warehouse.
Select the “Map Warehouse - User” link at the bottom of the page, to associate the selected warehouse to multiple users.
Select the “Edit References” link at the bottom of the page to specify the reference document details attached to the warehouse.
Select the “Edit Interim Storage Area/ Associated Warehouse” link at the bottom of the page to specify the interim storage area.
Select the “Set Warehouse Process Parameters” link to define process parameters for the new warehouse.
Select the “Edit Warehouse Information” link to modify the details of the warehouse.
Recording warehouse information – An overview
You can enter a unique number to identify the warehouse and provide description for it. The storage type of the warehouse can be “Normal” or “Free”. The warehouse with “Normal” storage type can be further divided into zones and bins for storing a variety of parts. This type of warehouse helps to store the parts in a structured manner, which also helps in traceability of parts. The parts can be stored in bulk in the warehouse if the storage type is “Free”. You can also select the category to which the warehouse belongs.
The address details along with the country, to which the warehouse belongs, can also be specified. You can enter the employee number of the warehouse in-charge, who is responsible for controlling all the transactions that take place in the warehouse.
You can also specify whether all the part types, transactions and part statuses are allowed in the warehouse. The system assigns the “Active” status as soon as the warehouse is defined and sets the creation date and time to the server date and time. You should ensure that the warehouse number is unique for the organizational unit, depending on the system parameter settings for storage administration defined in the “Logistics Common Master” business component.

You can define the warehouse of “Normal” or “Free” storage type. The warehouse with “Normal” storage type can be further divided into zones and bins for storing a variety of parts. This type of warehouse helps to store the parts in a structured manner, which also helps in traceability of parts. The parts can be stored in bulk in the warehouse if the storage type is “Free”.
Set the “Storage Type” drop-down list box to “Normal” to define the warehouse of type “Normal”.

Copy details from an existing warehouse
You can copy details from a warehouse that is already defined. Details such as the zone, bin, stock status, part type, parameter, user name, storage allocation can be copied.
Enter the number of the warehouse from which details must be copied, in the “Copy Details From” group box.
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton, to copy the details.
A new warehouse is generated in the “Active” status.
Allow all part type, transaction and stock status
You can specify whether all the part types, transactions and stock statuses are allowed in the warehouse.
Check the “All Part Types Allowed” box to allow storage of all types of parts, defined in the “Create Part Main Information” activity of “Part Administration” business component, in the warehouse.
Check the “All Transactions Allowed” box to allow all transactions that are predefined in the system, in the warehouse.
Check the “All Stock Status Allowed” box to allow storage of stocks that are in any user defined stock status, defined in the “Create User Defined Stock Status” activity of the “User Defined Stock Status” business component, in the warehouse.
Define warehouse as Allow Reservation/Hard Allocation
You can configure a warehouse as “Allow Reservation/hard Allocation”, which means the parts in the warehouse can be considered for reservation or hard allocation.
Check the “Allow Reservation/ Hard Allocation” box for considering the parts in the warehouse forreservation or hard allocatiom
Specify the capacity of the stock
You can specify the stock, which has its limitations to be stored in the warehouse.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “ Volume”, if the capacity of part is to be stored in volume.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “Weight”, if the capacity of part is to be stored in weight.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “Quantity, if the capacity of part is to be stored in quantity.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “Not Applicable”, if the warehouse is of type "Normal".
