In this page, you can define the zones for the warehouse for which the storage type is “Normal”. Tell me more
Select the “Create Zone Information” link at the bottom of the “Create Warehouse Information” page.
The “Create Zone Information” page appears.
The system displays the following fields in the “Warehouse Details” group box:
Warehouse # |
The warehouse number entered in the previous page, for which the zone details have to be entered. |
Description |
The textual description of the warehouse. |
Warehouse Type |
The type of warehouse, which could be “Normal” or “Free”. |
Warehouse Category |
The category to which the warehouse belongs. |
Enter the following fields in the “Zone Details“ multiline:
WH – Zone # |
A unique number identifying the zone in the warehouse (Alphanumeric, 10). Mandatory. This can be a combination of characters and digits. This number should be unique within the warehouse. |
Zone Type |
The storage type of the zone, which could be one of the following: |

The system sets the field to “Normal” by default. |
Zone Description |
The textual description of the zone (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory. |
Capacity Constraint |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the capacity of the stock accommodated in the zone, which could be one of the following: |

The system sets the default value as defined in the “Capacity Constraint” field of “Recording warehouse information” page. |
|
Volume |
The volume of the stock stored in the zone (Decimal). It is mandatory to enter this field, if the “Capacity Constraint” field is “Volume”. |
Volume UOM |
The unit of measurement in which the volume of the part is measured (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component and must be in “Active” status. |
If the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Volume” and this field is left blank, the system displays the “Volume UOM” of the respective warehouse. |

For conversion of “Volume UOM” in zone to “Volume UOM“ in warehouse, ensure that the conversion factor is specified in the “Maintain UOM Conversion” activity of the “Part Administration” business component.
Weight |
The weight of the part stored in the zone (Decimal). It is mandatory to enter this field, if the “Capacity Constraint” field is “Weight”. |
Weight UOM |
The unit of measurement in which the part is weighed (Alphanumeric, 10). The UOM must be defined in the “Create UOM” activity of the “Unit of Measurement Administration” business component and must be in “Active” status. |
If the “Capacity Constraint” field is set to “Weight” and this field is left blank, the system displays the “Weight UOM” of the respective warehouse. |

Proximity Indicator |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the position of the stock to be placed in the zone, which could be one of the following: |

The system leaves the field blank by default. |

Placement Priority |
The priority in which the parts must be received into the zone (Integer). This number should be unique. The number entered here should be greater than zero. |
Picking Priority |
The priority in which the parts must be issued from the zone (Integer). The number entered here should be greater than zero. This number should be unique within the multiline. |
File Name |
The name of the file used for document reference that is associated to the zone (Alphanumeric, 50). |
Remarks |
Any additional comments pertaining to the creation of zone (Alphanumeric, 255). |
Note: Ensure that atleast one zone number is entered in the multiline and the zone number is unique for the warehouse.
Click the “Create Zone Information” pushbutton to create the zone within the warehouse.
The system creates the zone number and set the status as "Active".
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the zone for which bins have to be defined.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Create Bin Information” link at the bottom of the page to enter the bin details for zones of type “Normal”.
Entering zone information – An overview
In this page, you can define the zones for the warehouse for which the storage type is “Normal”. You can enter a unique number to identity the zone and provide description for it. Zones can be of type “Normal” or “Free”, to enable part traceability. For zones of type “Normal”, bins can be defined within the zone for storing the parts.
You can also provide the priority for the various zones in the warehouse. At the time of issuing a particular part from the warehouse, the availability of the part will be checked in the various zones based on the priority specified here.
The system assigns the “Active” status as soon as the zone is created for the warehouse and sets the creation date and time to the server date and time. You should ensure that the zone number is unique for the warehouse.

Define normal and free zones under a warehouse
You can define the zones as “Normal” or “Free” type, to enable part traceability. For zones of type “Normal”, bins can be defined within the zone for storing the parts.
Set the “Zone Type” drop-down list box to “Normal” to define the zone of “Normal” type.
Set the “Zone Type” drop-down list box to “Free” to define the zone of free type.
Specify the capacity of the stock
You can specify the capacity constraints of the stock to be stored in the zone.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “ Volume”, if the capacity of part is to be stored in volume.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “Weight”, if the capacity of part is to be stored in weight.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “Quantity, if the capacity of part is to be stored in quantity.
Set the “Capacity Constraint” field to “Not Applicable”, if the warehouse selected is of type "Normal". .
Specify the “Placement priority” for a zone
You can specify the priority in which the parts must be received in the zone. At the time of receiving a particular part from the warehouse, the parts will be placed in various zones based on the priority specified here.
Enter the priority in which the parts must be received in the zone in the “Placement Priority” field.
Set the ”Proximity Indicator” field to “Near”, if the stock is to be placed near the entrance of the zone.
Set the ”Proximity Indicator” field to “Medium”, if the stock is to be placed in the center of the zone.
Set the ”Proximity Indicator” field to “Far”, if the stock is to be placed away from the entrance of the zone
Specify “Picking priority” for a zone
You can specify the priority in which the parts must be issued from the zone. At the time of issuing a particular part from the warehouse, the availability of the part will be checked in the various zones based on the priority specified here.
Enter the priority in which the parts must be issued from the zone in the “Picking Priority” field.
