Select the “Edit Work Package Information” link in the “Create Maintenance Program” or the “Edit Maintenance Program” page.
The “Edit Work Package Information” page appears.
The system displays the following field:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields are displayed and to be entered, in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the "Enterprise Modeling" business component by default. |
The system displays the following information in the “Maintenance Program Information” group box:
Maintenance Program # |
The maintenance program for which the maintenance events information must be specified. |

Enter the following fields in the “Work Package Details” multiline:
Seq # |
The sequence in which the work unit should be performed in the work package (Integer). Ensure that the sequence number is positive and unique in the multiline. |
If you leave the sequence number blank, the system automatically assigns a sequence number to each of the work units, in the order in which they are entered in the multiline, on clicking the “Edit Work Package” pushbutton. Ensure that you do not leave it blank for any of the work units occurring in between. |
|
Work Unit # |
The task or standard procedure, to be performed as part of the work package (Alphanumeric, 30). The task or the standard procedure must have already been defined in the “Create Task” or the “Create Standard Procedure” activity of the “Maintenance Task” business component and for the primary aircraft model specified in the “Primary Aircraft Model #” field. In addition, the task and the standard procedure should be in “Active” status with respect to the primary model that is selected in the “Primary Model #” field. If the sequence, work center and the priority values are specified in the multiline, data entry in this field is mandatory. Help facility available. |
Work Unit Type |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the type of the work unit, which could be “Task” or “Standard Procedure”. |
Work Center # |
The work center where the work unit must be performed (Alphanumeric, 30). The work center should have already been defined in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” business component and should be in “Active” status. Help facility available |
The system displays the following fields:
Est. Man Hrs. |
The total man-hours estimated for executing the work unit. |
Est. Time |
The time estimated for completing the task or standard procedure. |
Time Unit |
The unit of measurement for the time allotted for the work unit. The time unit could be “Minutes”, ”Hours” or “Days”. |
Enter the following fields:
Priority |
Use the drop-down list box to attach a priority to the work unit. The system lists all the priority descriptions that are in “Active” status, created in the “Create Priority Numbers” activity of the “Common Master” business component. |
Mandatory ? |
Use the drop-down list box and set the field to “Yes” to indicate that the execution of the work unit is mandatory in the work package. These work units cannot be deleted during execution they can only be deferred. Otherwise set the field to “No”. |
Expense Type |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the expense type of the work package. The system provides the following options:
|

Use the drop-down list box to specify whether the work unit must be performed on the aircraft or on the components fitted to the aircraft. The system provides the following options:
|
Maintenance Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of maintenance job that must be carried out as a part of the work unit. The system provides the options “Repair”, “Overhaul”, “Inspection” and “Others”. Do not leave this field blank if you have set the “Job Type” field to “Onwing”. |
Position Code |
The position code in the aircraft where the work unit must be performed (Integer). Ensure that the position code entered here has already been defined for the primary aircraft model and configuration class in the “Maintain aircraft model configuration” activity of the “Configuration” business component and is in “Active” status. Help facility available |
Level Code |
The number identifying the level for the position code that occurs in the primary model (Decimal). Ensure that the level code entered here has already been defined for the primary aircraft model and configuration class in the “Maintain Aircraft Model Configuration” activity of the “Configuration” business component and is in “Active” status. |
Note: Ensure that you enter either the position code in the “Position Code” field or the level code in the “Level #” field if you have selected “Onwing” in the “Job Type” field. If you have entered both the position code and the level code, ensure that it is a valid combination defined for the primary aircraft model and configuration class in the “Maintain Aircraft Model Configuration” activity of the “Configuration” business component.
Note: If the position code alone is entered and it is unique in the configuration, the system retrieves the level code corresponding to the position code.
If the level code alone is entered, the system retrieves the position code corresponding to the level code.
If you have entered both the position code and the level code, ensure that it is a valid combination.
Starting Day |
The starting day for executing the work unit (Integer). Ensure that the value entered here is positive and is greater than zero. |
Other References |
Any other references based on which the work unit is specified for the work package (Alphanumeric, 255). |
The system fills in the following fields on clicking the “Edit Work Package” pushbutton:
Work Unit Desc |
The textual description of the work unit. |
Work Center Description |
The description of the work center. |
Check the box in the multiline to mark the work unit for deletion.
Click Delete icon in the toolbar above the multiline to delete the selected work unit.
Note: While deleting a work unit in the multiline, if the “Resolve Relationship” box is checked, the system automatically assigns a “Finish – Start” relationship between the work units preceding and succeeding the work unit being deleted. If the “Resolve Relationship” box is left blank, the system deletes the work unit and the relationship with its preceding and succeeding work units. If the work unit being deleted has only preceding work units, or only succeeding work units, the “Resolve Relationship” box does not have any significance.
To illustrate, let us consider Task T1 as predecessor to Task T2 and Task T2 as predecessor to Task T3. If Task T2 is marked for deletion, the system identifies Task T1 as a predecessor to Task T3 and establishes a Finish-Start relationship between tasks T1 and T3. If a relationship is already defined between T1 and T3, then the system retains that relationship.
If you wish to insert work units in the multiline and assign sequence numbers for them, select the “Re-Number” pushbutton to rearrange the existing rows in the ascending order of the sequence number. The system regenerates the sequence number in multiples of five, thereby enabling you to specify the sequence number for the newly added work unit.
Click the “Edit Work Package” pushbutton to update the modified work package information.
Note: Ensure that atleast one record is available in the multiline.
Click the “Import From PMT” pushbutton to schedule the details of the maintenance program through the project management software.

Re-establish work unit relationship
Re-establish work unit relationship
You can re-establish a “Finish – Start” relationship between two work units in the work package, in the event of deleting a work unit in between.
Check the “Resolve Relationship” box to re-establish the relationship.
Modifying the work package details in the maintenance program – An overview
Work packages are effectively used to group the maintenance activities that have the same periodicity (repeat interval). The various types of routine aircraft maintenance such as daily and weekly inspections, major checks etc. can be configured as standard work packages.
The standard work package can be modified at the maintenance program level, i.e. new tasks can be added or existing tasks deleted from the work package.
You can select the work package that is included to the maintenance program and you can specify the work center where the work package must be carried out and the execution time details for completing the work package can also be specified. You can also specify whether the relationship must be resolved when a work unit is deleted from the multiline.
Tasks and standard procedures included in the work package can be termed as work units. You can include multiple work units to the work package in the “Work Package Detail” multiline and specify the sequence in which they have to be carried out while executing the work package. You can also provide the work center where the work unit has to be performed.
Note: if the work center is not specified for the work unit in the multiline then the system will assume the work center that is specified for the work package.
The estimated time and estimated man-hours for completing the work unit can also be specified. You can specify which work unit has to be given priority when two work unit conflicts while performing the work package. If the work unit is specified mandatory then the work unit cannot be terminated unless the work unit is completed or deferred. Otherwise the work package can be terminated even if the work unit is not performed.
The system updates the details of the work package in the program and sets the “Last Modified Date” and to the server date.
