Selecting engineering document for modification
In this page, you can search for the engineering document to be modified or cancelled. Tell me more.
Select the “Edit / Revise Engineering Document” link under the “Engineering Document” business component.
The “Select Engineering Document” page appears.
Enter the following in the “Direct Entry” group box, if you know the engineering document number and the revision number to be modified:
Eng. Doc # |
The engineering document for which the details are to be modified (Alphanumeric, 18). |
Revision # |
The revision number of the engineering document specified in the “Eng Doc #” field, for which the details are to be modified (Alphanumeric, 40). |
Select the “Edit Eng. Doc.” link, to modify the engineering document information.
Select the “Revise Eng. Doc.” link, to revise the engineering document information.
Note: The system retrieves only those engineering documents for which the “Eng. Doc. #” and "Revision #” combination is not in “Cancelled” status.
Search for Engineering Document
Enter the following in the “Search Criteria” group box to search for an engineering document. Data entry in the following fields is optional:
Eng. Doc # |
The engineering document number in which the details are to be modified (Alphanumeric, 18). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system lists all the engineering document numbers that are similar to the values entered here. |
Eng. Doc. Rev # |
The revision number of the engineering document for which the details are to be modified (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system lists all the engineering documents with revision numbers similar to the number entered here. |
Exe. Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the execution type. The valid options are “Major” and “Minor” and Blank. The system displays blank by default. |
Eng. Doc. Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the Eng.Doc Type. The system lists the user defined "Document Types" in “Active” status for the "Eng. Doc. Type" in the interacting “Configure Document Attributes” activity of the “Common Master” business component. The system leaves the field blank by default. |
Subject |
The description of the engineering document to be modified (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character (Alphanumeric, 150). The system lists all the engineering documents with descriptions similar to the description entered here. |
Status |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the status of the engineering document, which could be “Fresh”, “Released” or “Cancelled”. The system retrieves all the engineering documents that are in the status specified here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve details of engineering documents irrespective of their status. |
Eng. Doc Category |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the category of the engineering document to be modified. The system lists all the engineering documents that are in the category specified here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve details of engineering documents irrespective of their category. |
User Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the user-defined status of the engineering document. The system lists all the active quick codes that are of type “Eng. Doc - User Status” as defined in the “Create Quick Codes” activity. The system retrieves all the engineering documents that are in the user status specified here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve details of engineering documents irrespective of their user status. |
Applicability |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the applicability of the engineering document to be modified. The engineering document could be applicable for an “Aircraft”, “Engine” or a “Component”. The system sets the field to “Aircraft” by default. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter for which the engineering documents must be retrieved (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents containing ATA chapter number similar to the value entered here. Leave the field blank to retrieve the all the engineering documents irrespective of the ATA chapter number. The system retrieves the engineering documents with status as “Fresh” or “Released”. |
MCR # |
The maintenance change request against which the engineering document is created (Alphanumeric, 40). The system retrieves all the engineering documents with the MCR number entered here. |
Revision # |
The revision number of the maintenance change request (Alphanumeric, 40). |
Aircraft Reg # |
The registration number of the aircraft (Alphanumeric, 30). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents applicable to the aircraft registration number entered here. |
Aircraft Model # |
The number identifying the aircraft model (Alphanumeric, 20). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents applicable to the aircraft model specified here. |
Part # |
The number identifying the part on which the document must be executed (Alphanumeric, 40). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents executed on the part specified here. |
Component # |
The number identifying the component on which the engineering document must be executed (Alphanumeric, 90). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the engineering documents executed on the component specified here. |
Click the “Search” pushbutton to display the search results.
Note: If you have set assignments as ‘mandatory’ in the “Set Options” activity, the system retrieves only the engineering documents that are assigned to the login user. If assignments are non-mandatory, the system retrieves all the engineering documents.
Note: The system retrieves only those engineering documents for which the “Eng. Doc #” and “Revision #” combination is not in “Cancelled” status.
The system displays the following in the “Search Results” multiline:

The status of the engineering document, which could be “Fresh”, “Released” or “Cancelled”. |
User Status |
The user defined status assigned to the engineering document. |
Authorization Status |
The authorization status of the engineering document, which could be “Pending” or “Authorization Not Required”. |
Exe Type |
The type of execution, whether “Major” or “Minor”. |
MCR # |
The number of the maintenance change request for which the Engineering document is created.. |
Revision # |
The revision number of the maintenance change request. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter on which the Engineering document must be executed. |
Eng. Doc Category |
The category to which engineering document order belongs. |
Subject |
The textual description of the engineering document document. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to select the Engineering document for modification, revision or cancellation.
The system displays the following fields in the “Employee Details” group box:

The number identifying the currently logged-in user. |
Employee Name |
The name of the employee. |
Enter the following field if you wish to cancel the engineering document:
Cancellation Comments |
Any comment pertaining to the cancellation of engineering document (Alphanumeric, 255) |
Click the “Cancel Eng Doc” pushbutton, to cancel the engineering documents selected in the multiline.
The system assigns the “Cancelled” status to the engineering documents marked for Cancellation. If new task(s) and/or part(s) defined in the “Cancelled” engineering documents, are referred in other “Fresh” engineering documents’, the system classifies the task(s) and/or part(s) as “New”, in one of the “Fresh” engineering documents’.

Selecting engineering document for modification – An overview
In this page, you can search for the engineering document to be modified or cancelled. If you know the engineering document and the corresponding revision number to be modified, you can directly enter it. Otherwise, you can carry out a search based on the engineering document number, revision number, subject, status, category, user status, Engineering document applicability or the ATA chapter number. Based on the search criteria, the details of engineering documents are displayed in the multiline. You can select the engineering document for which the details are to be modified.
You can also select multiple engineering documents, and cancel them in bulk. You can enter the cancellation comments while canceling the engineering documents’. Once the Engineering document is cancelled, the system assigns the “Cancelled” status to the Engineering document and the Engineering document will not be available in other activities for processing.
