Discrepancy Processing - An overview
Discrepancies denote the problems in the aircraft that are observed by the mechanic or pilot. When a pilot observes a discrepancy, it is recorded in the “Flight Log” business component. The mechanic reports discrepancies in the “Hangar Work Order”, “Visit Package” or the “Component Work Order” business components.
In the Discrepancy Processing component, you can create a maintenance report for these discrepancies. Once a maintenance report is created, you can defer discrepancies and identify a resolution procedure to resolve them.
Identifying a resolution procedure basically means identifying the work units that have to be executed on the components to resolve the discrepancy. Execution of these work units can be based on time or usage i.e. based on a specific time interval or the parameter usage. For example, you can execute work units once every month (time based) or on completion of specific flight hours (usage based).
Apart from this, you can also transfer discrepancies from one component to another. You can retire discrepancies i.e. close the discrepancies permanently. Once deferral limits are set for a maintenance report, you can revise these limits.
