Defer Discrepancies – A summary of the activity

The “Defer Discrepancies” activity allows you to defer discrepancies reported in the journey log or technical log, hangar work order, component work order or visit package.

When the pilot notices a discrepancy in the aircraft, a record is made in the Journey Log. When a mechanic notices a discrepancy, a record is made in the Technical Log, Component Work Order, Hangar work Order, or Visit Package.

In the “Discrepancy Processing” business component, maintenance reports are created to defer discrepancies and identify resolution procedures for these discrepancies. Schedules are also specified for each discrepancy or maintenance report.

Sometimes, discrepancies may not be resolved immediately. The mechanic may defer these discrepancies. In other words, the mechanic can ’carry forward’ the discrepancy for various reasons such as non-availability of spares, resources, time, or under-equipped maintenance station.
