The “Create Shift” page appears
The system displays the following field
Date Format |
The date format applicable to the login user. |
Enter the following
Time Management Setup Unit |
Select the organization unit in which you must create the shift master. A setup organization unit is an organization unit in which you normally define master information. Other organization units can access information from this setup organization unit. |
Enter the following
Shift Code |
A unique code to identify a shift for the organization. |
Shift Description |
A description of the shift |
Alias |
Any acronym or short name by which the shift may be referred |
Start Time |
The time at which the shift starts |
End Time |
The time at which the shift ends |
Tolerance Limit (Mins) |
The time, in minutes, which an employee can deviate from the shift starting time |
Enter the start and end timings.
From the ‘Flexi Shift “ drop-down list box, select “Yes” or “No” to indicate whether the shift is a Flexi shift or not. Flexi shift implies that the shift timing is flexible.
If you selected “Yes” in the “Flexi Shift” field, enter the total numbers of hours the employees must compulsorily contribute, for a day, in the “Mandatory Working hours” field.
Instead of entering the “Mandatory Working hours” field, you can enter the “Core Hours Start Time” and “Core Hours End Time” fields.
Do not enter work and break sessions, in the “Timing Details” multiline
Select the “Save” pushbutton.
Enter the following
Core Hours start time |
Define the start time of the core segment of the day, during which all employees in the organization must be present. |

For example, general shifts could be from 8.30 a.m. to 6.15 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 6.45 p.m. However, the core segment of the day, during which all employees are to be compulsorily present, could be from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. |
Core Hours End Time |
Define the end time of the core segment of the day, during which all employees in the organization must be present. |
Break Time (Hours) |
The number of hours that the interval time of the shift constitutes. |
In the “Shift Breakup“ multiline, enter in sequential order the following details of each work session and break session of which the shift constitutes.
From Time |
The time at which each session of the shift starts. You need to ensure that |

To Time |
The time at which the session ends. You need to ensure that the end time of the last session within the shift must be the same as the end time of the shift. |
Time Type |
Indicate whether the session you are defining is a work session or a break session, by selecting “Work Time” or “Break Type” from the drop-down list box. |
Shift Session |
Define the sequence or order of each session, for example 1,2,3. The required option can be selected from the drop-down list box. |
Check the “Select” box pertaining to each session in the multiline, to indicate that the session is selected.
Enter the following in the “Session Conversion Details“ multiline, to convert each session into its equivalent in hours
Shift Session |
Specify the order or sequence of the session, as per the order you specified for the session in the “Shift Session” field in the multiline above. |
Equivalent Hours |
Enter the number of hours that the session consists of. You can use decimals to indicate fractions, example, 0.5 |
Note: Ensure that the total number of hours of all the sessions is equal to the number of hours between the “Start Time” and “End Time” of the shift.

Enter any comment pertaining to the shift, in the “Comments” field
To add extensive comments, select the zoom icon beside the “Comment” field. A zoom page appears
Enter your comments in the zoom page
Select the “Save” pushbutton in the zoom page after you complete the comments
Select the “Save” pushbutton in the “Create Shift” page
Complete entering all the required shift details in the “Create Shift” page, and select the “Save” pushbutton
The system computes and displays the following fields
Total Working Time |
The total number of hours that the employees are working, during the shift. |
Total Shift Time |
The total number of hours that the shift constitutes. |
Total Break Time |
The total number of hours that constitute interval/break, during the shift |
Select the “View Shift Details” link, to view the details of a required shift.
