Employment Unit Mapping – An overview

Through this page, you can choose the organization units to which the information you created in the Create or Edit Holiday Master / Shift Master pages will be applicable. Until you choose the organization units, the activity information will not be applicable to any organization unit, including the setup organization unit you had already chosen in the “Setup Unit” drop-down list box in the previous page.

Note: You can choose the organization units from the current page, provided you had specified “Selective Org. Units” from the “Applicable To” field” of the previous page. Otherwise, you must choose the organization units from the previous page, by selecting either “Login Org. Unit” or “All Org. Units” from the “Applicable To” field” of the previous page.

Essentially, a setup organization unit is an organization unit where you define master information. Other organization units access information from this setup organization unit; these organization units are called the applicable OUs. A behind-the-scenes application called the Component Interaction Model identifies and stores

The "Employee Unit Mapping" page allows you to select from only the list of applicable organization units for the setup unit you chose in the previous page. Tell me more.

What is the role of the holiday, in Time Management Setup?

Unless holidays are defined, scheduling of shifts cannot be defined for employees. An employee schedule consists of shifts and holidays, therefore holidays constitute an important block of employee scheduling

When can you edit or delete a holiday master?

You can edit or delete a holiday, as long as it has not been included in any other transaction. For instance, if a holiday master has been inserted into a given rota plan, the holiday cannot be deleted. The details of the holiday, except for the holiday description, cannot be edited either, unless you use the “Edit Unscheduled Holiday” activity.

If a holiday is already accessed in transactions, how do you delete it?

You are to enter the “Edit Unscheduled Holiday” activity, where you can convert a holiday to a working day and vice versa. For this change to take effect, you are to generate the employee schedule and then view the employee timetable. The generated timetable will reflect the new working day in each employee’s schedule.

See the subtopic “Implication of Unscheduled Working Days and Holidays” under the “Edit Unscheduled Holiday” activity summary, for more information.
