Through this component, you can create the basic elements upon which Time Management is built. They are,
Holiday Master
Shift
Holiday Master
A holiday master must be identified by a unique code and description, and its validity period specified. Essentially, It will contain the list of holidays within the period.
Shift
A shift is a specific period of time within the day or night, during which a group of employees must work. It consists of time segments called Work sessions, and Break sessions. You are to identify each shift with a unique code and description, after which you assign it properties such as
The start and end times of the shift
Whether the shift is flexi or rigid
The break-up of the shift into work sessions and break sessions
A shift must start with a work session, and alternates between work and break sessions, with no gaps in-between. A break may or may not be included in the employee’s attendance for payroll, depending on what was specified for each rota pan
In addition to the shifts that you will define, the system makes available a shift called “weekly off”. This shift can be assigned in the employees’ schedule, wherever required.
Impact on Scheduling
Essentially, Shifts and Holidays are the time segments of which every employee’s schedule consists
In the Scheduling component, one or more shifts are grouped together, to create a rota plan intended for a specific category of employees. A holiday master is attached to this rota plan. From this group of shifts comprising the rota plan, one or more shifts are derived and arranged in a prescribed sequence, to form the rota schedule.
When the rota schedule is assigned to the employee, he inherits the shifts according to the sequence defined in the schedule. All the properties of the shift, such as shift timings, are automatically inherited into the employee’s schedule as well. Additionally, the employee inherits the list of holidays inside the holiday master attached to the rota plan. The system automatically incorporates the holidays into each employee’s schedule, along with shifts and weekly offs.
