Through this activity, an employee can request his or her supervisor for a shift deviation.
Shift Deviation: A shift deviation refers to allocating the employee to a different shift from the one to which he is currently assigned. The shift deviation will be for an effective period.
For instance, when a breakdown of machinery occurs, employees will be rescheduled. Rescheduling could imply that employees working on a morning shift are transferred to the general shift, until the machinery is restored.
You are scheduled on shifts, on the requested dates
The shift deviation permission type is “Allowed”, for the rota schedule to which you are mapped. See the topic “Permission for Shift Deviation” below, for more information
What You Are To Carry Out: You begin by selecting the number of the assignment for which the shift is applicable. The period for which the employee will be working on this shift must be specified as well.
Weekly Off Deviation: When you want to avail shift deviation on a weekly off, it involves a two-fold request. You are to
Create a shift deviation request for the date of the weekly off. For example, your scheduled weekly off could be Saturday, 6 July. In this shift deviation request, you are to specify the name of the target shift, example Shift-A
Create another shift deviation request for the date to which you have moved the weekly off. For example, Sunday, 7 July. In this shift deviation request, you are to specify the name of the target shift as WO, which is the shift name for “Weekly Off”.
Note: Each shift deviation request will cover a single day, only
Permissions for Shift Deviation: After you complete entry of the employee’s shift deviation, the system checks the shift deviation permission type defined for the rota plan to which the employee belongs. The permission, which could be “Allowed” or “Not Allowed”, is predefined in the Time Management Setup activity
Weekly Off: Normally, when the employee’s shift has been changed for a specified period, the weekly off that is part of his original rota schedule, will remain the same. The exception is when you request a shift deviation separately for weekly off. This has been described already.
