Applicant Evaluation – An Overview
Applicant Evaluation is the final stage, after the screening stage, in recruitment before an applicant is selected for the job. This component enables evaluators, to evaluate an applicant’s suitability for a position in the organization for which he/she has applied. An evaluator can also perform the salary fitment for an applicant after finally shortlisting him/her.
Evaluating an applicant: Evaluators adopt the Single Step Applicant Evaluation approach. Through this method, the applicant will be assessed on various parameters, during one round or stage of evaluation.
For example, in a single stage, such as Interview, the applicant will be assessed on parameters, such as Necessary skills, Communication skills, Relevant work experience, Applicant’s attitude, and Personality. The ratings for each of these parameters can be ‘Excellent’, Good’, ‘Satisfactory’, ‘Below Average’ etc.
When the evaluation is completed, the applicants are sent for selection or the next level of evaluation, based on the ratings.
Viewing an applicant evaluation: Evaluators / supervisors can view the details of an applicant‘s evaluation for the various parameters. In addition, they can view the details of the proposed salary, if entered, for the finally shortlisted applicant.
