Using Online Help

This page allows you to select an EAN and release it as a response for an ESR. Tell me more.

The “Release Response” page appears.

The system displays the following:

Date Format

The format in which the date fields are displayed in this page. This format is displayed from the “User Preferences” business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default.

Engg Advice Note #

EAN Category

Use the drop-down list box to select the category of the EAN to be released. The system lists the quick codes of the type “EAN category” defined in the ‘Create Quick Codes” activity, that are in the “Active” status. Leave this field blank to retrieve EANs irrespective of their category.

Engg Service Req #

The number identifying the ESR, for which the EAN is to be released (Alphanumeric, 18). You can enter the ESR number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system displays all the ESR numbers that are similar to the value entered here.

Note: The ESRs, for which the EAN is to be released, must be in the interim “Closed” or “Pre-closed” status.

ATA #

The ATA chapter number on which the ESR to be processed is raised (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the ATA number in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system displays all the ESRs that have been raised for ATA numbers that are similar to the value entered here. Leave this field blank to retrieve ESRs raised for all ATA numbers.

User Status

Use the drop-down list box to select the user status of the EAN to be released. The system lists all the user statuses, defined in the ”Create Quick Codes” activity, which are in the “Active” status. Leave this field blank to retrieve EANs irrespective of their user status.

Applicability

Use the drop-down list box to select “Aircraft”, “Component” or “Engine”, for which the EAN to be released, is applicable. The system displays “Aircraft” by default.

Response Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the response type.

  • New Advice Note – Indicates that the EAN to be released is a new EAN.

  • Referred Advice Note – Indicates that an existing EAN has been referred for release.

  • Pre-closed Request – Indicates that the ESR has been pre-closed with the relevant reasons.

The system displays “New Advice Note” by default.

Note: If “Response Type” is “New Advice Note”, the system will retrieve all the ESRs, which are not in the “Closed” interim status. This interim status is assigned to the ESR in the “Process Engg Service Request” activity of the “Engineering Advice Note” business component. The EAN released with this response type will be in the “Fresh” status.

If “Response Type” is “Referred Advice Note”, the system will retrieve all the ESRs, which are not in the “Closed” interim status. This interim status is assigned to the ESR in the “Process Engg Service Request” activity of the “Engineering Advice Note” business component. The EAN released with this response type will be in the “Released” status.

If “Response Type” is “Pre-closed Request”, the system will retrieve all the ESRs that are in the “Pre-closed” interim status. This interim status is assigned to the ESR in the “Process Engg Service Request” activity of the “Engineering Advice Note” business component. Click the “Search” pushbutton to retrieve the search results.

Note: The system does not retrieve ESRs that are associated to the aircraft in “Frozen” status.

The system displays the following in the “Search Results” multiline, based on the search criteria entered:

Engg Service Req #

The number identifying the ESR for which the EAN must be released.

Engg Advice Note #

The number identifying the EAN which is to be released.

Revision #

The revision number of the selected EAN, if available.

Subject

The subject of the EAN.

ATA #

The ATA chapter number associated to the EAN.

Pre-closing Comments

Any comments to justify the pre-closure of the ESR (Alphanumeric, 255). The system displays the pre-closure comments entered in the “Process Engg Service Request” activity.

Note: Ensure that this field is not left blank, if the “Response Type” field is set to “Pre-closed Request”.

The system displays the following:

Response Date

The date on which the response has been released earlier.

Requestor Comments

Any comments given by the user, who has raised the ESR for clarifications.

Requesting Org Unit

The organization unit, which has requested for clarification by raising the ESR.

Note: At least one EAN must be selected in the multiline for release or for cancellation. Ensure that the status of the selected EAN number /EAN Revision number is “Fresh”.

Note: This action is workflow-enabled. Notification messages can be sent as per the settings you have defined in the "Workflow Management" business component.

The system performs the following:

When a new EAN is released

The status of the “Fresh” EAN is updated to “Released” and the status of the ESR is updated to “Closed”. The reference of the ESR number is updated to the EAN number and the revision number. If a “Fresh” EAN released has a previous version, then the status of the previous version is updated as “Revised”. The reference of the ESR number is updated to the EAN number and the revision number.

The system stores the login user ID and the server date along with the release details. The system updates the “Released By” field with the login user ID and the “Released Date” with the current server date. The system also stores the server date as the date on which the EAN was associated to the ESR.

When an existing EAN is released

In case the EAN released is a “Referred Advice Note”, the status of the ESR in the “Engineering Service Request” business component is updated to “Closed”. The reference of the ESR number is updated to the EAN number and the revision number. The system stores the server date as the date on which the EAN was associated to the ESR.

When the ESR is pre-closed without releasing EAN

The status of the ESR after pre-closure is updated to “Pre-closed” and the earlier EAN reference is removed. The pre-closing comments are available for viewing in the corresponding ESR. If the pre-closed ESR has an EAN reference, then the EAN reference is removed from the ESR. If the referred EAN refers to more than one ESR, then the reference of the pre-closed ESR’s is removed from the EAN.

When the EAN is released for a “Response Declined” ESR

In case the EAN is released for a “Response Declined” ESR, the status of the EAN is updated to “Released” and the status of the ESR in the “Engineering Service Request” business component is updated to “Closed”. The earlier ESR – EAN reference is removed and the new reference is updated.

To cancel an EAN

Note: This action is workflow-enabled. Notification messages can be sent as per the settings you have defined in the "Workflow Management" business component.

The status of the EAN is updated to “Cancelled”. The cancelled EAN is disassociated from its corresponding ESR(s). The disassociated ESR(s) will be available again for processing.

The system stores the login user ID and the server date along with the release details.

Note: In case you wish to cancel an EAN with the “Response Type” as “Pre-closed”, the pre-closing comments will be removed automatically by the system for the selected ESR. The selected ESR(s) will be available again for processing.

Selecting an engineering advice note for releasing – An overview

This page allows you to select an EAN and release it as a response for an ESR. The selected EAN is sent to the corresponding “Engineering Service Request” business component as a response. You can carry out a search based on the engineering advice note number, the category to which the EAN belongs, the engineering service request number, the ATA chapter number associated to it, the user status of the EAN, the applicability of the EAN and its response type. Based on the response type selected, the system retrieves the ESR and its corresponding EAN details. Upon releasing the EAN, the status of the selected ESR is updated to “Closed” and the status of the EAN is updated to “Released”. In case the ESR has been selected for pre-closure, the status of the ESR is updated to “Pre-closed”.

This page also allows you to select an EAN that is a response for an ESR and cancel it. The ESR associated to the selected EAN is disassociated from the EAN and is available again for processing. The status of the selected EAN is updated to “Cancelled”.
