This page allow you to enter a unique number for the work package and provide a description for it. Tell me more.
Select the ”Create Work Package” under the “Component Maintenance Program” business component.
The “Create Work Package” page appears.
Enter the following fields in the "Work Pakcage Details" group box:
Work Package # |
A unique number that identifies the work package (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. This can be a combination of characters and digits. This number should be unique to the “Component Maintenance Program” and “Maintenance Program” business component. |
Work Package Description |
The textual description of the work package (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory. Zoom facility available. |
Primary Work Center # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the work center where the work package has to be performed (Alphanumeric, 30). The system lists all the “Active” work centers defined in the “Create Work Center” activity of the “Work Center” business component and leaves the field blank by default. |
The system fills in the following field on clicking the “Create Work Package” pushbutton:

Ref. Document Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the reference document. The system lists all the reference document types defined in the “Create Reference Document Type” activity of the “Common Master” business component. |

The number identifying the reference document (Alphanumeric, 40). |
Work Package Type |
The type of work package (Alphanumeric, 30). |
Remarks |
Additional remarks pertaining to the creation of the work package (Alphanumeric, 255). Typically the reason for creating the work package can be specified here. Zoom facility available. |
Enter the following in the “Execution Details” group box:
Est. Man Hrs. |
The estimated man hours for completing the work package (Decimal). |
Est. Duration |
The total time required for completing the work package (Decimal). Mandatory. The estimated duration also includes the time required for performing pre-execution or post-execution tasks such as getting tools ready and cleaning up work. The estimated duration should be a positive value. Use the drop-down list box provided alongside, to specify the unit of measurement for the estimated duration, which could be “Minutes”, “Hours” or “Days”. |
Turn Around Time |
The time for which the component will be unavailable if this work package is carried out (Decimal). This should be a positive value. Ensure that the value entered is greater than the "Estimated Duration" value. |
Wrench Time |
The total time estimated for the actual execution of the work package (Decimal). The value entered must be positive. |
Ideal Time |
The ideal time recommended for the completion of the work package (Decimal). The ideal time of the work package is estimated based on the ideal time recommended by the OEMs for each work unit in the work package. The value entered must be positive. |
Note: The time unit selected for the “Est. Duration” is set as the time unit for the Turn Around Time, Wrench Time and Ideal Time.
Enter the following in the “Work Scope Details” multiline:

The number identifying the sequence of the work package (Integer). Ensure that the value entered here is a positive value and is not a duplicate value. |
Work Unit Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of the work unit, which could be “Task” or “Standard Procedure”. Mandatory. The system sets the field as “Task” by default. |
Work Unit # |
The task or standard procedure to be performed as part of the work package (Alphanumeric, 30). Mandatory. The work unit must be a valid task or standard procedure defined in the “Create Task” and “Create Standard Procedure” activity respectively, of the “Maintenance task” business component. The task or standard procedure should be in the “Active” status. |

Starting Day |
The day from which the execution of the work unit must be started (Integer). Ensure that the value entered here is positive and greater that zero. If this field is left blank, the system updates the value “1” on clicking the “Create Work Package” pushbutton. |

Use the drop-down list box to specify the expense type of the work units. The system provides the following options:

Note: Ensure that at least one work unit is entered in the multiline.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the selected work units.
Click the “Re-number” pushbutton to re-number the work unit.
The system performs the following on clicking the Re-Number pushbutton:
If you wish to insert tasks in the multiline and assign sequence number for them, click the “Re-Number” pushbutton to rearrange the existing rows in the ascending order of the sequence number. The system regenerates the sequence number in multiples of five, thereby enabling you to specify the sequence number for the newly added sub task.
Note: The existing sequence numbers cannot be rearranged or modified, if a new task or standard procedure is added in the multiline.
The records in the multiline including the Starting Day are refreshed.
Select the “Create Work Package” pushbutton to create the work package.
Note: The system creates the work package and sets the status of the created work package as "Active".
The system performs the following on clicking the Create Work Package pushbutton:
The unique work package number will be created for the given work package details.
Generates the sequence numbers in the multiline incremented by 1 starting from the largest of the current sequence numbers in those rows for which sequence numbers are not specified in the multiline.
Generates the serial number (starting from 1) in the Seq # as per the position of the records in the multiline for each MPType.
Updates the “Est.Man.Hrs” field in the Execution Details Data Cluster with the value which is the sum of estimated man hours for the tasks in the “Maintenance Task” business component, if the value entered in the “Est.Man.Hrs” field is less than the sum value, else updates the value entered in the “Est.Man.Hrs” field. All the estimated time entered are converted into hours based on the conversion factors defined in the “Common Masters” business component.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Date–based Schedule” link at the bottom of the page to specify the date-based schedule details, for the selected work unit.
Select the “Edit Usage-based Schedule” link at the bottom of the page to modify the resources of type facilities that are required for executing the work package.
Select the “Edit Relationship Details” link at the bottom of the page to define or modify the relationship details of the Work Units in the work package
Select the “Edit Work Units in Program” link at the bottom of the page to update this work package into maintenance programs of parts or components.
Select the “Estimate Resource – Facilities” link at the bottom of the page to modify the resources that are required for executing the work package.
Select the “Estimate Resource – Skill” link at the bottom of the page to modify the resources of the skill type that are required for executing the work package.
Select the “Estimate Materials” link at the bottom of the page to modify spare parts that are required for executing the work package.
Select the “Edit Part Effectivity” link at the bottom of the page to modify the part for which the work package is applicable.
Select the “View Work Center Details” link at the bottom of the page to view the details of the work center.
Select the “View Primary Work Center Details” link at the bottom of the page to view the details of the primary work center.
Creating work package – An overview
You can enter a unique number for the work package and provide a description for it. You can specify the type of the work package. You can also specify the work center where the work package has to be carried out and the estimated time for completing the work package. You can also provide references to related documents such as MPD and CMM.
Work units can be of type task or standard procedure. You can define the work units to be carried out while executing the work package. You can also provide the work center where the work unit has to be performed. The work unit can be specified as “Mandatory” within the work package. For schedule update purposes, the work package is assumed to have been performed if all the mandatory work units within the package have been performed.
The system assigns the “Active” status as soon as the work package is created and sets the server date and time as the creation date and time.

You can provide reference document details for the work package. You can specify the type of the reference document and the reference document number.
Select the type of the reference document in the “Ref. Document Type” field.
Enter the reference document number in the “Ref Document #” field.
Enter the other work package details
Click the “Create Work Package” pushbutton.
The system stores the work package details along with the reference document details.
You can specify the type of the work unit that has to be associated with the work package. The type of the work unit could be “Task” or “Standard Procedure”.
Set the “Work Unit Type” field as “Task” to associate the task with the work package.
Set the “Work Unit Type” field as “Standard Procedure” to associate the standard procedure with the work package.
