The “Create Cycle Count Plan” page appears.

The system displays the following fields in the “Plan Details” group box:

CC Plan #

The number identifying the cycle count plan. The system automatically generates the number on clicking the “Create Cycle Count Plan” pushbutton, based on the numbering type selected.

Numbering Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the numbering type to be used by the system for generating the cycle count plan number. Mandatory.  The system lists all the numbering types defined in the “Create Numbering Type” activity of the “Document Numbering Class” business component that are valid on the current date. By default, the system sets the field to the numbering type specified as default for the “Cycle Count Plan” transaction type.

Note: You must not select a numbering type that is mapped to a group company, if the CC plan is being created for the login company.

However, if you are creating the CC plan for a warehouse exclusively mapped to a  group company and, if "Separate Numbering Type for Trading Partner Transactions" between the login company and the group company is ‘1’ in the Maintain Options for Partner Transactions activity of Organization Setup, the system automatically generates the CC plan # on creation based on the numbering type set for the Cycle Count Plan transaction between these companies in the same activity. If "Separate Numbering Type for Trading Partner Transactions" is set as ‘0’, you can select the numbering type for CC plan#.

Plan Description

The textual description of the cycle count plan (Alphanumeric, 150). Mandatory.

Status

Use the drop down list box to assign a status for the cycle count plan. The system provides the options “Draft “ and “Fresh”. By default, the system sets the status as “Draft”.

Note: Set the status as “Fresh”, only when the data entry is complete and the cycle count plan is ready for authorization.

Planned Start Date

The starting date of the cycle count plan (Date Format). Mandatory. The starting date should be equal to or later than the current date.

User Status

Use the drop-down list box to assign a user-defined status to the cycle count plan. The system lists all the “Active” quick codes defined for the user status in the “Create Quick Codes” activity of the current business component. The system leaves the field blank by default.

Creating a cycle count plan – An overview

Create Cycle Count Plan - A summary of the activity

This page allows you to create a Cycle Count (CC) plan. You can specify the numbering type, based on which the system generates a unique number for each CC plan. The CC plan can be created at three levels: warehouse level or zone level or bin level. You can specify the category and the group to which the CC plan belongs.

You can specify various planning options, including the cumulative moving average value range, classification method to be adopted and the type, group and category of the part for which the CC plan is generated.

You can view the desired and current accuracy levels of stock. The desired and current accuracy level is defined for the first cycle count for the ABC or VED classes of items in the "Set Cycle Count Parameters” activity. After the count is complete, the system automatically updates the current accuracy. The Current Accuracy is calculated for a particular item class after the count/recount entry, as follows:

Current accuracy

=

Number of items that are in “No Adjustment” status

/

Total number of items counted in that particular item class

As the current accuracy of a particular class of an item increases, the frequency of cycle counting decreases. The probability of variance is inversely proportional to the current accuracy. Therefore, as the probability of variance decreases, the current accuracy increases, thereby increasing the cycle count interval. The system automatically increases or decreases the count interval after each count is complete by comparing the desired accuracy with the current accuracy.

This page also allows you to view the count intervals. The count interval can be calculated only for item classes for which the current accuracy is specified. Both current and desired accuracy must be less than 100%. The system calculates the Count Interval using the following formula:

CC Interval

=

(1 - Desired Accuracy Level)

/

Desired Accuracy

 *

Probability of Variance

Number of items in variance per 'time period’

=

(1 – Current Accuracy Level)

*

Items Population Size

/

Number of time periods in an year

The system creates the CC plan and generates the CC plan number based on the numbering type selected.
