Create Cycle Count Plan – A summary of the activity
Cycle Counting (CC) is an inventory control method to check and control the variation between the system inventory records and the actual inventory levels. Cycle count helps you to detect process faults that produce inventory inaccuracies and can thus help in systematically improving the inventory accuracy. It also helps in reducing the stock transactional problems arising out of the difference between the stock records and the stock actuals.
Cycle counting is performed throughout the year on a “performance-dependent” schedule so that an attempt is made to count all the items at least once a year. The cycle counting operation involves the following steps:
Define system parameters and options to set up the basis for count performance.
Generate cycle count plan(s) for the items, so that an attempt is made to cover all parts at least once a year. The primary focus is on items that are more valuable and move more frequently.
Generate cycle count sheet(s) from the CC plan. You can create CC sheet based on the plan or overdue date.
Perform cycle count operation and enter count results. If required, perform ‘recount’ and enter recount results.
Authorize the count (and recount) results and consequently initiate the “Adjustment Creation Process”, to bridge the discrepancy between the system record and the actual stock.
Update the current accuracy level and the CC interval based on the count and recount results.
This activity allows you to create a cycle count plan and associate parts to the cycle count plan. You can view the details of the warehouse and zone before creating the CC plan for the parts.
