Aircraft - An overview
"Aircraft" business component provides for the definition of all maintainable entities in the organization. Primary information pertaining to various aircraft and all its trackable components can be identified in this business component.
Aircraft:
The aircraft is the primary entity defined in the system to which components can be attached. Maintenance functions such as schedule definition, activity forecasting, work order generation & execution and reviews can be performed for an entity identified as an aircraft.
Aircraft Model:
A type or design of aircraft is referred to as "Aircraft Model". Models are uniquely codified and specific aircraft are later identified with the model.
Component:
Components are the building blocks for the systems in the aircraft. They are items or equipment that are attached to a parent entity (which can be an aircraft or another component) and moves from one parent to another during its active life or for which the life has to be tracked. Components are typically serial number controlled parts whose part numbers have been defined in "Part Administration" business component.
Parameters:
There are certain attributes for each of the maintainable entity, which help in monitoring its condition or usage. These attributes, which can be either quantitative or qualitative, are defined as parameters and identified through a unique code. The parameters can be associated to aircraft or components.
ATA Chapter:
The Air Transport Authority chapter numbers define & describe the systems in the aircraft. The various part numbers, which essentially defines the aircraft structure, can be associated to the ATA chapter numbers identified. ATA grouping of part numbers help in easy trouble shooting as well as system-wise reliability analysis.
Zone:
The aircraft is divided into various zones, which depicts the three dimensional identification of each location in the aircraft.
In addition to these, user-defined entities such as Component Family and Aircraft Group can also be defined in this business component.
This business component also facilitates the updation of parameter values identified for the aviation assets.
