Create Quick Codes – A summary of the activity

Aircraft - An overview

Quick codes are user-defined values, used to categorize the aircraft or component based on certain characteristics. The basic quick code types for aircraft and components are defined in the system. You can define the quick code values for each of these quick code types, using this activity. These quick codes are later used in other activities, where the aircraft or the component is classified. The classification of aircraft and components, based on quick codes, is to enable effective data analysis and reports generation.

The basic quick code types such as the aircraft type, aircraft status, model type, usage type, aircraft group category and other aircraft and component details, are defined in the system. Quick codes can be defined under each of these quick code types. For example, the quick code type “Usage Type” can contain the quick codes “Passenger”, “Cargo” and  “Combi”, and the quick code type “Aircraft Type” can contain the quick codes “Wide-body” and “Narrow body”. The quick code type “Model type” can contain the quick code “B737” or “Jets” etc., the model type is used to represent various variant within the model.

Aircraft and components can be classified by associating them to these quick codes, in the “Create Aircraft Record”, “Create Component Record” and “Maintain Maintenance Info. For Part” activities.

You can define a quick code for a specific quick code type, by providing a unique identifier and a description for it. The quick code should be unique for the organizational unit. The system assigns the "Active" status as soon as the quick code is created and sets the created date and time to the server date and time.
