What you can do in this activity

Through this activity, the HR user can edit the leave application already posted on behalf of the employee. The leave application can be edited, provided it has not been authorized. See Apply for Leave – A summary of the activity.

Selecting the leave application: To start with, you are to select the leave application to be edited. You can select the leave application in one of the following two ways:

Editing the leave application: You can edit all the details in the employee’s leave application, except the leave application number and the leave application status. After the leave application is submitted, it is sent across to the concerned supervisor for authorization. See Factors that affect an employee’s leave application.

Deleting a leave application: After selecting and retrieving the details of a leave application, you can delete it. Deleting is carried out when you have decided not to submit the leave application.

Requesting cancellation or withdrawal of an application: You can request the cancellation or withdrawal of an authorized leave application, after you retrieve it through the search.

Leave application status:  You can find the status of leave applications in the "View Leave Application Status" page. The system assigns one of the following statuses to a leave application:

Besides the status, the "View Leave Application Status" page also shows you other key details of a leave application such as the requested and authorized leave units. See The leave authorization cycle.

Leave summary:  You can obtain a comprehensive leave summary of the employee, through the “View Leave Balances” page. For each leave type to which the employee is entitled, this page traces the complete history of entitlement, carry over, encashment and adjustment.

The leave summary also provides the total balance of leave units that the employee can currently avail, after all factors are considered. Tell me more.

The information generated by this activity is picked up by the Payroll component for computing compensation for employees.

Deleting a leave application

Before a leave application is authorized, you can delete it. After it is authorized, it cannot be deleted but it can be cancelled.
