Apply for Leave - FMLA – A summary of the activity
Through this activity, the HR user or the employee can post the leave application. Leave can be applied only for the primary assignment of the employee.
You are to fill in all the details in the leave application. A covering employee can also be nominated, to take up the responsibilities of the employee who is going on leave. After the leave application is submitted, the concerned supervisor can retrieve it for authorization.
Leave application details: The essential details of the leave, which are to be specified, are as follows:
The employee code of the employee on whose behalf the leave is being applied
The type of leave
The number of leave units
The period and time of leave
The employee who will take over the responsibilities during the leave period. This employee is referred to as the ‘covering employee”.
You can specify explicit the leave reason. After you save the details, the system will generate a unique application number, to identify the leave application of the employee.
The system displays the employee’s leave balance details. The balance is calculated for the Leave balance for the leave type - leave year combination.
If the Calendar basis is Rolling back, then for the previous calendar year the system checks for the FMLA leave applications have been applied and arrives at the balance. For example entitlement is 84 days and valid for 12 months, and the days have been applied for the 12 months preceding the leave start date and deducted from the 84 day entitlement. Entitlement and balance can be equal in many cases.
