Engineering Order - An Overview

What you can do in this activity

This activity enables you to create the Fleet Campaign Directive (FCD), which communicates a minor engineering change that does not involve configuration changes, or revisions to approved tasks.

FCDs are generally used for inspection and emergency maintenance actions. Normally the FCD is taken up on priority, and is a blanket communiqué to the field, to either replace the parts or perform a particular service on a fleet. For example, an OEM may notify an airline that a particular batch of a part manufactured by them has defects and they need to be replaced immediately. This directive is immediately implemented as an FCD and communicated to the field. An engineering change communication such as a Service Bulletin (SB) or AD can translate into an FCD, to confirm or assess the circumstances mentioned in the change request.

A fleet campaign directive differs from an Engineering document in the following respects:

A unique number identifies each FCD. You can enter the general details, reference details and the FCD execution details in the “Create FCD” page.

Define aircraft and part effectivity for the FCD

If the FCD is applicable for “Aircraft”, you can define the aircraft effectivity, that is, indicate the aircraft for which the FCD is applicable.

If the FCD is applicable for “Engine” or “Component”, you can define the part and component effectivity, that is, indicate the parts and components for which the FCD is applicable.
