Entering serial number effectivity details for engineering document
This page allows you to enter the serial number effectivity details for the Engineering Document. Tell me more.
Select the “Edit Serial No Effectivity” link at the bottom of the “Edit Part No Effectivity” page.
The “Edit Serial No Effectivity” page appears.
Note: Ensure that the part effectivity details are already defined for the Engineering Document, in the “Edit Part No Effectivity” page.
The system displays the following in the "Eng Doc Details" group box:
Eng. Doc # |
The Engineering Document for which the serial number effectivity must be entered. |
Revision # |
The revision number of the Engineering Document. |
Subject |
The textual description of the Engineering Document. |
Enter the following fields:
Serial # Change? |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the option for serial number change. The system lists one of the following:
If the “Schedule Type” is “Recurring” or the “On-Wing” flag is checked, then the system lists only the “None” option. If the “Schedule Type” is “One-time”, “On-Wing” flag is not checked and if value is not specified in the “Mod Status #” field, then the system lists the options “None” and “Specific”. The system sets this field to “None” by default. |
Part # |
Use the drop-down list box to select the part number for which the serial number effectivity must be defined. The system lists all the part numbers for which the Engineering Document is applicable. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton, to retrieve the serial number effectivity details that have already been defined for the part.
The system displays the following field on clicking the “Get Details” pushbutton:
Part Description |
The description of the part. |
Enter the following fields in the “Part Details” multiline:
Serial # |
The serial number of the part for which the Engineering Document is applicable (Alphanumeric, 40). Mandatory. The serial number should have already been identified in the “Maintain Part # Information” of the “Aircraft” business component and the serial number should be in “Active” status. Ensure that the serial number is unique in the multiline. Help facility available. |
Note: The system does not allow you to modify the part serial number details that are already associated to the Engineering Document. To delete associated serial number details, check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline and click the "Delete" button.
Manufacturer Serial # |
The serial number of the part manufacturer (Alphanumeric, 40). The manufacturer serial number must have already been defined in the “Maintain Part # Information” activity of the “Aircraft” business component. |
Component # |
The component ID of the part (Alphanumeric, 90). The component ID must have already been defined in the “Maintain Part # Information” activity of the “Aircraft” business component. |
New Serial # |
The new serial number of the part for which the Engineering Document is applicable. Data entry in this field is mandatory, if the “Serial # Change?” field is set as “Specific”. Leave the field blank, if the “Serial # Change?” field is not “Specific”. |
Applicability Group # |
The number identifying the applicability group based on which the engineering task will be executed. This field cannot be left blank if more than one Applicability Group # exists for the engineering document. Ensure that it is a valid positive integer. |
Note: Ensure that atleast one serial number is entered in the multiline.
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the part serial number for deletion.
Click the Delete icon provided in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the serial numbers selected in the multiline.
The system deletes the serial number, and its configuration details as identified in the “Edit Component Configuration Change Information” page.
Click the “Edit Effectivity” pushbutton to update the serial effectivity details.
The system updates the following details in the “Plan Material Requirements” page, if a new component is added in the multiline:
If you have chosen to generate PR automatically for the engineering document, the system copies the maintenance bases of all the newly added components into the “Plan Material Requirements” page.
The required quantity of the part is updated in the “Plan Material Requirements” page as follows:
Reqd. Quantity = |
No. Of parts estimated * |
No. of maintenance objects maintained in the individual maintenance bases |
For example, let us consider a situation where an engineering document requires two numbers each, of Parts P1 and P2, and the Engineering Document is applicable for 5 aircrafts, where 3 aircrafts are maintained by the “Chicago” maintenance base, and 2 aircrafts are maintained by the “Boston” maintenance base.
In such a case, the Required Quantity for Part P1 in the “Chicago” maintenance base, is calculated as:
Required Quantity = No. of parts * No. of aircraft = 2 * 3 = 6
Similarly, the required quantity is calculated for other parts.
Note: If a new aircraft is added in a new maintenance base, the system copies the parts P1 and P2 into the material plan, with the required quantity as 2 numbers for each part. If the newly added aircraft belongs to an existing maintenance base, the count of aircraft is incremented, for calculating the required quantity.
The system calculates and updates the compliance date for the newly-added entity as the earliest date among the schedule dates computed for the date-based and usage-based work units.
The system updates the “New Serial #”, if the value selected in the “Serial # Change?” field is other than “Specific”.
If the value specified in the "Serial # Change?" field is "Append Mod Status#", the system adds the “Mod Status #” specified for the engineering document with the existing serial number and updates the same as “New Serial #” for the components in the multiline.
Note: The system displays an error message, if the part and new serial number combination already exists in the “Stock Maintenance” business component.
To proceed, carry out the following:
Select the “View Terminated Eng.Doc” link at the bottom of the page to view the terminated engineering document details.
Select the “Edit Task Details” link at the bottom of the page to enter the details of the tasks to be performed during Engineering Document execution.
Select the “Release Eng. Doc.” link at the bottom of the page to release the engineering document.
