Basics of using a typical web page

Using Online Help

This page allows you to specify the search criteria to retrieve maintenance reports whose resolution procedures have to be edited. You can enter the discrepancy number, maintenance report number, aircraft registration number and ATA number to retrieve the maintenance report.  Information displayed in the multiline includes details such as the part number, part serial number, discrepancy type, discrepancy category, processing status, tracking status, Fault number and component number.

This page also allows you to confirm the resolution procedure identified.

The “Select Maintenance Report” page appears.

To search for a discrepancy or maintenance report

Search ID

Use the drop-down list box to select the search ID. The system retrieves the discrepancies or maintenance reports based on the filter criteria specified for the search ID. Leave this field blank if you wish to enter the search criteria fields.

Note: You can also create a new search ID using the “Create Adv. Search ID” link available at the bottom of the page.

  • “Transferred” – when the maintenance report is transferred from one component to another.

  • “No Fault” –when the action specified for the discrepancy is “no fault”.

  • “Planned” - When a discrepancy or maintenance Report is included in a planning document like Visit Package or Line Package i.e. in other words, when the resolution is planned.

  • “Closed” – when the maintenance report is closed after the discrepancies in the report have been resolved by executing work units.

To confirm resolution procedure

Note: This action is workflow-enabled. Notification messages can be sent as per the settings you have defined in the "Workflow Management" business component.

The system updates the processing status of the maintenance report to “Analyzed”

If the discrepancy/maintenance report is applicable for a “Component”, the system updates the record status of the discrepancies associated to the maintenance report as “Pending”.

When the procedure is confirmed and the resolution type is “Repetitive”, the system does the following:

a. When the discrepancy/maintenance report is applicable for an “Aircraft” or “Component”, on confirmation of the resolution procedure, the work units associated to the resolution procedure are appended to the work units existing in the aircraft maintenance program or component maintenance program, provided the work units have only one standard procedure. The maintenance report number and maintenance report are updated as the reference document number and reference document type respectively.

b. When the discrepancy/maintenance report is applicable for a “Component”, the system considers only the floating interval value specified in the time-based and usage-based schedule details of the component maintenance program.

Ensure that the Aircraft Maintenance Program is in the  “Active” status and that the Component Maintenance Program is in the “Approved” status.
