Select the “Identify Resolution Procedure” link in the “Select Discrepancies / Maintenance Reports” page.
The “Identify Resolution Procedure” page appears.
The system displays the following fields:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields appears in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
The system displays the following field in the “Maint. Report Details” group box:
Maint. Report # |
A unique number identifying the Maintenance Report. If you have selected a Maintenance Report in the previous page, then this field displays the number of the Maintenance Report. If you have selected a group of discrepancies to be deferred, then the system generates a unique maintenance report number and displays the value in this field. The number is displayed with the corresponding prefix and suffix of the numbering type selected in this page. The number is incremented from the last number available in the “Document Numbering Class” business component. |
Enter the following:
Numbering Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the numbering type for the maintenance report. If you have selected a maintenance report in the previous page, the system displays “None” in this field. If you have selected one or more discrepancies in the previous page, then the system lists all the numbering types defined in the “Create Numbering Class” activity of the “Document Numbering Class” business component that are in “Active” status. The system displays the numbering type set as default in the “Document Numbering Class” business component. |
Maint. Report Description |
The textual description of the maintenance report being generated (Alphanumeric, 255). Mandatory. |

Applicability |
The applicability of the aircraft, which can be “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component”. |
Enter the following:
Maint. Report Class |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the class to which the maintenance report belongs. The system displays all the active codes that are defined under the “Maint. Report class” attribute in the “Maintain Discrepancy Attribute” activity of the “Common Masters” business component. |

Record Status |
The status of the discrepancy or maintenance report, which can be “Fresh”, “Pending” or “Pending deferral”. |
Enter the following:
Tracking Status |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the tracking status of the discrepancy. The system displays all the active codes that are defined under the “Tracking status” attribute in the “Maintain Discrepancy Attribute” activity of the “Common Masters” business component. |

Processing status |
The processing status of the discrepancy, which can be “None” or “Under Analysis”. |

The ATA chapter for which the discrepancy is being reported (Alphanumeric, 16). Ensure that the ATA chapter is already defined in the “Create ATA Chapter” activity of the “Aircraft” business component. Help facility available. |

The model number of the aircraft for which discrepancies have been reported. The system displays this field only when “Applicability” is “Aircraft”. |
Component # |
The component number for which discrepancies have been reported. The system displays this field only when “Applicability” is “Component”. |
Serial # |
The serial number of the part of the aircraft for which discrepancies have been reported. The system displays this field only when “Applicability” is “Component”. |
Part # |
The part number for which discrepancies have been reported. The system displays this field only when “Applicability” is “Component”. |

The textual description of the part. |
Enter the following fields in the “Discrepancy Details” multiline:
Discrepancy # |
The number identifying the discrepancy that has been raised against the component (Alphanumeric, 40). Help facility available. |
Note: The discrepancies entered in the multiline should have been raised against the same aircraft registration number. The discrepancy number should not belong to any other maintenance report.

Note: If multiple engineering service requests refer to the same maintenance report, then the details of the latest engineering service request are displayed in the above fields.

Note: If you have specified suggested transfer details, then the system will display details of the restoration work unit specified for the component in the “Resolution Procedure” multiline. The restoration work unit for a component is specified in the “Component Maintenance Program” business component.
Enter the following fields in the “Resolution Basis” group box:
Resolution Type |
Use the drop-down list to select the type of resolution suggested. The system displays the following options:
If you have selected a maintenance report in the previous page, then the system sets this field to the resolution type defined for the maintenance report. Otherwise, this field is set to “Corrective” by default. For example, if the maintenance report has both corrective and repetitive work units, the system defaults this field with “Corrective” and retrieves the corresponding corrective work units. If the maintenance report has only repetitive work units, the system defaults this field to “Repetitive” and retrieves the corresponding repetitive work units. |
Click the “Get Details” pushbutton.
The system retrieves the resolution procedure details defined for the discrepancy in the “Resolution Procedure” multiline.
The system displays the following field:
Existing Content |
The existing resolution type defined for the discrepancy. The system displays either “Corrective”, “Repetitive” or “Both”. |
Enter the following fields in the “Resolution Procedure” multiline:
Work Unit Type |
Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the work unit that has to be performed to resolve the discrepancy in the maintenance report. The system provides the options “Task”, “Standard Procedure” and “New Task”. If you have selected a maintenance report in the previous page, then the system sets this field with the work unit type defined for the maintenance report. Otherwise, this field is set to “Task” by default. |
Seq # |
The sequence number for each record in the multiline (Integer). Mandatory. If you leave this field blank, then the system automatically generates this number. |
Work Unit # |
The number identifying the task or standard procedure (Alphanumeric, 30). Help facility available. |
Note: The combination of work unit type, sequence number and work unit number must be unique in the multiline
If the “Applicability” for the Maintenance report or discrepancy is “Aircraft” and the “Work Unit Type” is set to “Task” or “Standard Procedure”, then the work unit must belong to the aircraft registration number on which the maintenance report or discrepancy has been reported.
Similarly, if the “Applicability” for the maintenance report or discrepancy is “Component” or “Engine” and the “Work Unit Type” is set to “Task” or “Standard Procedure”, then the work unit must belong to the part number of the component number on which the maintenance report or discrepancy has been reported.

Note: If you have specified the details in the “Suggested Transfer Details” group box, then the system will consider the “Restoration Work Unit” details of the component (defined in the “Component Maintenance Program” business component) as a corrective work unit and display the details in the above multiline.
To record additional details for the work units
Select the “Edit Part Req. for New task” link at the bottom of the page to specify parts requirement for executing the new task.
Select the “Edit Resource Req. for New Task” link at the bottom of the page to specify resource requirements needed for executing the new task.
Select the “Edit Access Panels for New Task” link at the bottom of the page to specify the access panel information for the task.
Select the “Edit Work Area / Zone Details for New Task” link at the bottom of the page to specify the work area and the zone where the task has to be executed.
Select the “View Task” link at the bottom of the page to view task details.
Select the “View Standard Procedure” link at the bottom of the page to view the standard procedure.
To record other details for the resolution procedure
Enter the following field in the “Other Details” group box:

Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline to mark the work unit for deletion.
Click the Delete icon in the tool bar above the multiline, to delete the work units selected in the multiline.
Click the “Record Procedure” pushbutton to record the resolution procedure identified in this page.
The processing status of the maintenance report, as well as each discrepancy in the report, is updated to “Under Analysis”.
Note: If you have selected discrepancies for creating a maintenance report, ensure that the record status of the discrepancies is the same.
Click the “Confirm Procedure” pushbutton to confirm the resolution procedure identified in this page.
Note: This action is workflow-enabled. Notification messages can be sent as per the settings you have defined in the "Workflow Management" business component.
The processing status of the maintenance report, as well as each discrepancy in the report, is updated to “Analyzed”.
Note: If the discrepancy/maintenance report is applicable for a “Component”, the system updates the record status of the discrepancies associated to the maintenance report as “Pending”.
If the applicability of the discrepancy/maintenance report is “Component” and resolution type is “Repetitive”, the system considers only the floating interval value specified in the time-based and usage-based schedule details of the component maintenance program.
Ensure that the Aircraft Maintenance Program is in the “Active” status and that the Component Maintenance Program is in the “Approved” status.
Note: Once the procedure is confirmed and the resolution type is “Repetitive”, the system does the following:
a. If the discrepancies or maintenance report is for an aircraft, the work units of the resolution procedure are added to the existing work units of the primary program associated to the registration number of the aircraft. The maintenance report number and maintenance report is updated as the Reference Document Number and Reference Document Type respectively.
b. If the discrepancies or maintenance report is for a component, the work units of the resolution procedure are added to the respective component maintenance program. The maintenance report number and maintenance report is updated as the Reference Document Number and Reference Document Type respectively
Click the “Cancel Report” pushbutton to cancel the maintenance report.
Note: This action is workflow-enabled. Notification messages can be sent as per the settings you have defined in the "Workflow Management" business component.
The record status of the maintenance report is set to “Cancelled”. Discrepancies are unmapped from the maintenance report and the record status of each discrepancy is set to “Pending”.
Note: You cannot cancel a maintenance report for which the record status is “Deferred” and processing status is “Analyzed”.
Click the “Delete Procedure” pushbutton to delete the resolution procedure identified for the maintenance report.
The processing status of the maintenance report, as well as each discrepancy in the report, is set to “None”.
The system displays the following in the “Record Statistics” group box:

Select the “Edit References” link at the bottom of the page to record document references for the resolution procedure.

Identifying resolution procedure for the selected discrepancies or maintenance report – An overview
This page allows you to identify a resolution procedure for a maintenance report. For the maintenance report selected in the previous page, you can specify the resolution type and the work units that have to be performed to resolve the reported discrepancies.
Discrepancies must have been reported in the “Journey Log” of the “Flight Log” business component and in the visit package, component and hangar work orders.
Record resolution procedure for the maintenance report or discrepancy
Set the “Resolution Type” to “Corrective” if the resolution procedure is to be executed only once on the component.
Set the “Resolution Type” to “Repetitive” if the resolution procedure is to be executed repeatedly on a specified regular interval.
Record resolution procedure for the maintenance report or discrepancy
In the “Resolution Procedure” multiline, enter the work units to be performed to resolve the discrepancies.
Select the work unit in the multiline, for which you wish to record additional details.
Select appropriate links below the multiline to record additional details such as part requirements, resource requirements, access panels and work area and zone details for the work unit selected in the multiline.
