Editing component family information
You can modify the details of the selected component family in this page. Tell me more.
Select the “Edit Component Family” link in the “Select Component Family” page. Alternatively, select the hyperlinked component family number in the multiline of the same page.
The “Edit Component Family” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Date Format |
The format in which the date fields appears in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user id. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default. |
The system displays the following in the “Component Family Details” group box:

The component family selected in the main page for which the details are to be modified |
Enter the following:
Status |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the status of the component family to “Active” or “Inactive”. Set the status as “Inactive” to disable the component family from future reference in other activities. |
Part Classification |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the part classification of the component family, which could be “Rotables”, “Repairables” or “Controllables”. |
Component Type |
Use the drop-down list box to modify the type of the component that can be defined in the component family, which could be “Engine”, “APU”, “Landing Gears”, or “Others”. |
Component Family Description |
The textual description of the component family (Alphanumeric, 80). Mandatory. |
ATA # |
The ATA chapter to which the component family should belong (Alphanumeric, 16). Ensure that the ATA chapter is already defined in the “Create ATA Chapter” activity and is in “Active” status. |
Click one or more of the following boxes in the “Component Category” group box to modify the category of the component family:
Cargo |
Click this box to indicate that the components belonging to this component family can be fitted only in a cargo aircraft. |
RVSM |
Click this box to indicate that the components belonging to this component family can be fitted in aircraft, which can fly at a height lesser than the minimum vertical separation minimum limit. |
MEL |
Click this box to indicate that the components are a part of the minimum equipment list of an aircraft. |
The system displays the following:
Createdby |
The name of the user who created the component family. |
Created Date |
The date on which the component family was created. |
Last Modified by |
The name of the user who last modified the component family. |
Last Modified Date |
The date on which the component family was last modified. |
Click the “Edit Component Family” pushbutton to modify the details of the component family.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the “Edit Consumption & Range Parameters” link at the bottom of the page to modify the consumption and range parameters of the component family.
Select the “Edit Technical & Attribute Parameters” link at the bottom of the page to modify the technical and attribute parameters of the component family.
Editing component family information – An overview
Details such as the component family description, ATA chapter number, part classification, component type, category and zone can be modified. You can make use of the help facility to retrieve the ATA chapter number. You can also modify the details of the parameters, which are already defined for the selected component family. The system updates the details, sets the last modified date to the server date and stores the name of the currently logged in user.

Modify the status of the component family
You can modify the status of the component family to “Active” or Inactive”.
Set the “Status” field to “Active” if you wish to refer the component family in other activities.
Set the “Status” field to “Inactive” if you wish to disable the component family from future reference in other activities.
The component family can be of classified as rotable, repairable or controllable
Set the “Part Classification” field to “Rotables” to classify the component family as rotable.
Set the “Part Classification” field to “Repairable” to classify the component family as repairable.
Set the “Part Classification” field to “Controllable” to classify the component family as controllable.
You can specify the type of the component that can be defined in the component family, which could be “Engine”, “APU”, “Landing Gears” or “Others”.
Set the “Component Type” field to “Engine” to specify the component of type engine can be defined in the component family.
Set the “Component Type” field to “APU” to specify the component of type APU can be defined in the component family.
Set the “Component Type” field to “Landing Gear” to specify the component of type landing gear can be defined in the component family.
Set the “Component Type” field to “Others” to specify the any component type other than engine, APU, landing gear can be defined in the component family.
The component can be further categorized as “Cargo”, “RVSM” or “MEL”:
Check the “Cargo” box to indicate that the components belonging to this component family are used only in a cargo aircraft.
Check the “RVSM” box to indicate that the components belonging to this component family are used in aircraft which can fly at a height lesser than the reduced vertical separation minimum limit.
Check the “MEL” box to indicate that the components belonging to this component family are a part of the minimum equipment list of the aircraft.
