Security Definition - An Overview

Some of the key activities of this component are listed below:

Create Security Group: Through this activity, you can create a security group. A security group refers to a set of users for whom similar access permissions to employee details can be given based on user-role-business process chain combinations. Creation of a security Group would facilitate defining data level security privileges for a set of users instead of doing the same for each user individually

Refresh Security Details: Through this activity, you can refresh security details. Note that security details will have to be refreshed owing to the promotion, transfer or other types of employee movements within the organization. Refreshing security details will ensure that all changes in any of the access permission details are updated accordingly.

Define user permissions on employees:  Through this activity, you can set access permissions for a user allowing him/her to work with only a restricted set of employee details, which is relevant. The access permissions to employee details are given to a user based on his/her user-role combination and not on an individual basis. Thus the same user can have different access permissions for his/her different login roles, business process chains etc.

Define Security Group permissions: Through this activity, you can define access permissions to all the users of a security group.

Set Employee Security Parameters: This activity allows you to decide if the organization must use data level security parameters or otherwise. Data level security should be provided to restrict users from accessing sensitive data and manipulating it. You can set only two data level security parameters through this activity. They are:

• Data Level Security Definitions Enabled. This parameter will give the organization units the flexibility of either using data level security or not.

• Level of Indirect Span of Control – The level of indirect span of control till which permissions are to be given.
