Priority

The number, which indicates the sequence in which the pay element must be considered during payroll processing. Examples: 1, 2 and 3.

Effective From Process Period

The number of the process period from which the payset-pay element mapping is effective.

Effective To Process Period

The number of the process period till which the payset–pay element mapping is effective.

Access Data History

“Update” is displayed, if the system maintains a history of the modifications in the payroll-pay element mapping. Use the “Previous” and “Next” pushbuttons to view the preceding and following modifications

Recurring

“Yes” is displayed If the pay element is of recurring nature,” otherwise “No” is displayed.

Taxable

“Yes” is displayed if the pay element is subject to tax under law, and “No” if the pay element is non-taxable.

Separate Round off

“Yes” is displayed to increase or reduce it to the nearest whole number. “Separate Round Off” of a pay element indicates that the difference between the values to its nearest whole number will be posted under a separate account number in General Ledger.

Otherwise, select “No”.

Payable

Select “Yes” from the drop-down list box, to indicate that the pay element is payable. “No” indicates that it is not payable.

For example, “Base Salary” can be payable, but ”Wholesale Price Index” is non-payable because it is used only for computation purposes. ”Wholesale Price Index” can be used to calculate Dearness Allowance.

Carry Over

When recovery of a loan or deduction from an employee’s salary will result in his/her take-home salary falling short o you can select the “Carry Over” option.

“Yes indicates that the amount due can be recovered in the subsequent process periods

Partial Recovery

“Yes” indicates that the balance amount can be recovered in more than one process period.

“No” indicates the total element value must be recovered within one process period.

For example, a loan value could be $30,000. The amount is recovered in three installments of $10,000 each, in three-process periods. “Yes” in such instances will indicate partial recovery. “No” will indicate that the total amount is recovered in one process period.

Element Override MHTP

“Yes” indicates that the pay element value overrides the MHTP (minimum home take pay). MHTP is the minimum take-home amount that an employee must be given, despite any deductions that exceed his net payable salary. This amount depends upon the statutory regulations of the country or organization’s policy. The system will automatically deduct the entire value from the employee’s salary, irrespective of the MHTP limit.

For example, an employee’s pay is $10000, his deductions are $7000 and his MHTP is $5000.  Since the employee’s MHTP is $5000, only $5000 can be deducted (10000-5000). The remainder $2000 ($7000-$5000) will be carried to the next process period. If “Yes” is displayed in this field, it indicates that $7000 is deducted and the employee’s pay will be $3000 only. If “No” ” is displayed in this field, the deduction amount that exceeds the MHTP will be carried over to the next process period

Tax Projection

"Yes" is displayed if the pay element is used for tax projection.

Annual Income

"Yes" is displayed if the pay element attribute is set as annual income.

Income Source

The income source applicable to the pay element.

Supplemental Income

"Yes" is displayed if the pay element is applicable to supplemental income.

Remuneration Classification

The remuneration type based on which the pay element is taxable.

Attendance Desc.

If the pay element is linked to any attendance type, the attendance type is displayed.

If no value is displayed in this field, it indicates that the pay element is not linked to any attendance type.

Basis

If the pay element is linked to an attendance type, either “Calendar-Based” or “Period-Based” is displayed.

  • “Calendar-Based” indicates that the payment amount specified for the pay element is the same for every process period, irrespective of the number of days in the process period. Example, if the base salary of an employee is specified as $3000, it means that his base salary is $3000 irrespective of whether the process period has 30 days or 25 days.

  • “Period-Based” indicates that the value of the pay element is determined based upon the number of units present in the process period. Example, the Dearness Allowance could be $100 for one period unit. For a process period of 30 days there are 30 period units (assuming that one day is one period unit), therefore the value of the pay element is $3000.  If the process period has 31 days, the number of period units are 31 and therefore the pay element value is $3100.

Period Unit Description

If “Period Units” was selected in the “Basis” field, this field displays the name of the period unit for which the pay element is calculated.

No. Of Units

If “Period Units” was selected in the “Basis” field, this field displays the actual number of period units based on which the pay element rate must be calculated.

Round Type

The round type applicable to the pay element. It can be one of the following: “Floor”’ “Ceiling”, “Actual” or “Nearest”.

Round Factor

The number that determines the extent of rounding off.

Carry Over

“Yes” specifies that the amount rounded off is to be accounted for in the next process period. For example, if $.100.40 is rounded off to $.100.00, $0.40 will be added in the next process period. On the other hand, if the value is rounded off to 101.00, $ 0.60 will be subtracted in the next process period.
