Maintain Garnishment Setup
This activity allows you to maintain the garnishment set up details. For a Garnishment Set up unit and Jurisdiction combination, you can define disposable earnings for garnishments, map pay element, set limits for child support, specify the exemption for tax levy and set the minimum wage multiplication factor.
Select the “Maintain Garnishment Setup” from the left pane.
The “Maintain Garnishment Setup” page appears.
Select the following details from the header.
Garnishment Setup Unit |
Select the organization unit in which you must record the details of garnishment for an employee. The drop-down list box displays all the organization units where you have permission to define the parameters for the Garnishments – Jurisdiction combination. The system displays “Select” by default on launch of the page. |
Jurisdiction |
Use the drop-down list box to select the jurisdiction (state) defined for the country – USA in which the person is employed. The combo is loaded with Federal and the state descriptions defined for the country. The system displays “Select” by default on launch of the page. |
The system displays the following detail in the “Pay Element Mapping” multiline.
Garnishment ID |
A unique number identifying the garnishment. |
Garnishment Category |
Indicates the garnishment category applicable to the selected Jurisdiction. |
Priority |
Indicates the priority or the order in which the Garnishment must be recovered or executed at which the garnishment must be recovered. |
Enter the following details in the “Payment Element Mapping” multiline:
Disposable Income |
Indicates the disposable earnings accumulator that has to be mapped to the payment element. |
Garnishment Deduction element |
Indicates the pay element that has to be deducted in the current pay period based on the garnishment setup. |
Service Charge Element |
The amount to be deducted from a part of the employee’s income as service charge. |
Select the following from the “Payment Element Mapping” multiline.
Service Charge Amount/Percentage |
Use the drop-down list box to select the service charge amount / percentage element. The combo is loaded with “Amount” and “Percentage”. The system displays “Select” by default on launch of the page. |
Enter the following details in the “Payment Element Mapping” multiline:
Service Charge from debtor |
The service charge amount to be deducted from the debtor. |
Service charge from creditor |
The service charge amount to be deducted from the creditor. |
Click the “Save” pushbutton.
Select the following
Garnishment ID |
A unique number identifying the employee garnishment details. |
The system displays the following details in the “Garnishment Limits for Child Support” multiline:
Family Status of employee |
Indicates the dependents status of the employee. |
Enter the following details in the “Garnishment Limits for Child Support” multiline:
Percentage on Disposable earnings |
Disposable earnings percentage to be used by the appropriately selected calculation routine. |
Select the following from the “Exemption for Tax Levy” multiline:
Filling Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the filing status of the employee. The combo is loaded with the values mapped in the Jurisdiction and the filing status. |
Pay Frequency |
Use the drop-down list box to select payment frequency. The combo is loaded with “Hourly”, “Per Period”, “Daily”, “Weekly”, “Bi-Weekly”, “Semi Monthly”, “Monthly”, “Semi-Annual”, “Quarter” and “Year”. The system displays “Select” by default on launch of the page. |
Enter the following details in the “Exemption for Tax Levy” multiline:
Basic Exemption Amount |
The basic exemption amount that has to be levied from the employee. |
Allowance to Amount Conversion |
Indicates the conversion factor equivalent to corresponding amount. |
Additional Allowances to Amount Conversion |
Indicates the addition allowances conversion factor equivalent to corresponding amount. |
Enter the following details in the “Factor – 1 Minimum Wages” multiline:
Minimum Wage Multiplication Factor |
Indicates the factor upto which the minimum wages per hour of the jurisdiction to be calculated. |
Minimum Federal Wages / Hour |
Indicates the minimum federal wages per hour for computing the garnishment amount. |
Minimum Wages Per Week |
Minimum Wage Multiplication Factor * Minimum Federal Wages / Hour |
Select the following from the “Factor -2 Disposable Earnings” multiline:
Employee Status |
Use the drop-down list box to select the employee status. The combo is loaded with “Head of Household” and “Single”. The system displays “Select” by default on launch of the page. |
Enter the following details in the “Factor – 2 Disposable Earnings” multiline:
Weekly Earnings From |
The starting range of the weekly earnings of the employee to calculate disposable earnings. |
Weekly Earnings To |
The ending range of the weekly earnings of the employee to calculate the disposable earnings. |
Percentage on Disposable earnings |
The percentage by which the disposable earnings should be calculated. |
Amount of Garnishment / Week Per Dependent |
Indicates the garnishment amount to be reduced per week and per dependent. |
Click the “Submit” pushbutton to save the details.
