Recording the employee’s self appraisal
Select the “Self Appraisal” link from left pane.
The “Self Appraisal” page appears.
The system displays the following
Employment Unit |
The employment unit to which the employee belongs. This refers to the organization unit that holds the Employment Information component. |
Date Format |
The date format that is applicable to the login user. |
Employee |
The employee code and name of the login employee. |
Joining Date |
The date of joining of the employee. |
Confirmation Date |
The date on which the employee was confirmed. |
Enter the following
Assignment No. |
From the drop-down list box, select the number of the assignment for which the self-appraisal will be applicable. |
Appraisal Type |
From the drop-down list box, select the type of appraisal for which the employee’s self-appraisal must be recorded. It can be one of the following:

Appraisal Calendar Code |
Enter the code of the appraisal calendar in which the self appraisal will be applicable. An appraisal calendar is a specific period of appraisal. For example, the appraisal calendar C1 is for the period 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2003. Help available. |
Calendar Short Description |
If you select the appraisal calendar through Help, the short description of the calendar is displayed. |
The system displays the following

Parameter Category |
The parameter category defined at the Employee level |
Weightage Computation Level |
The weightage computation level defined for the appraisal calendar and Parameter Category mapped to the Employee |
Employee Appraisal Status |
The status of the employee’s appraisal. It can be one of the following:

To enter performance evaluation details
The “Performance Evaluation” multiline displays the following
Objective Group |
The objective group from which you require to import objectives. |
Objective Type |
The type of an objective from which you require to import objectives. |
Objective Description |
A brief description of each objective. Tell me more. |
Objective Detailed Description (Desired Outcome/Targets) |
A detailed description of the objective. |
Appraiser Code |
The employee code of the appraiser who is responsible for evaluating the employee on the objective |
Appraiser Name |
The name of the appraiser. |
Appraiser’s Employment Unit |
The employment unit to which the appraiser belongs. |
Unit of Measure |
The unit of measure of the quantitative target. |
Quantitative Target |
The quantitative target defined for the objective group and type. |
Enter the following in the multiline
Self Quantitative Achievement |
The self quantitative achievement of the employee against this objective, as free text. |
Self Achievement % |
The self quantitative achievement of the employee against this objective specified in percentage. |
Achievement |
The employee’s achievement against this objective, as free text. |
Weightage |
A number to indicate the weightage assigned to the objective, with respect to the other objectives listed in the multiline. See example below |

To enter other duties/projects undertaken
Enter the following in the “Other Duties/Projects Undertaken” multiline
Objective Group |
From the drop-down list box, select the objective group from which you require to import objectives. The combo is loaded with the values as defined in "Record Appraisal Objective Parameter" activity for the selected appraisal calendar in the multiline. The system displays "Blank" by default on launch of the page. |
Objective Type |
From the drop-down list box, select the type of an objective from which you require to import objectives. The combo is loaded with the values as defined in "Record Appraisal Objective Parameter" activity for the selected appraisal calendar in the multiline. The system displays "Blank" by default on launch of the page. |
Assignments Undertaken |
Each assignment undertaken by the employee during the period of the appraisal calendar, which needs to be evaluated. This is to be entered as free text. |
Desired Outcomes/Targets |
The desired outcomes/targets expected of the employee, for the assignment. This is to be entered as free text. |
Appraiser Code |
From the drop-down list box, select the employee code of the appraiser who is responsible for evaluating the employee on the objective. |
Appraiser Name |
When you select the employee code of the appraiser from the “Appraiser Code” field, the system displays the name of the appraiser . |
Appraiser's Employment Unit |
When you select the employee code of the appraiser from the “Appraiser Code” field, the system displays the employment unit to which the appraiser belongs |
Weightage |
Enter a number to indicate the weightage assigned to the assignment, with respect to the other assignments you enter in the multiline. See example below |
Achievement |
Enter the achievement of the employee, for the assignment. This is to be entered as free text |
Rating Pattern |
The rating pattern applicable for this objective. |

To compute the weightages for objectives and projects
Select the “Compute Objective Weightage in %” pushbutton, after you have completed entering the weightages in both the “Performance Evaluation” and “Other Duties/Projects Undertaken” multilines.
Both multilines display the following, for each objective and for each assignment
Weightage (in %) |
The weightage assigned to the objective group, objective type, objective group-type and objective, in percentage. If the weightage computation level is set as ”Objective Group”, then the objective (within a group) is calculated as shown below: Objective Y1 weightage % = ((Objective Y1 Weightage / sum(Objective Y1 Weightage + ObjectiveY2 Weightage....))*Objective Group G1 Weightage % If the weightage computation level is set as “Objective Type” then the objective (all objectives within type) is calculated as shown below: Objective Q1 weightage % = ((Objective Q1 Weightage/sum(ObjectiveQ1 Weightage+ObjectiveQ2 Weightage....))*ObjectiveType T1 Weightage % If the weightage computation is set as “Objective Group-Type” then the objective (all objectives within a Type) is calculated as shown below: Objective Q1 weightage % = ((Objective Q1 Weightage /sum(ObjectiveQ1 Weightage+ObjectiveQ2 Weightage....))*ObjectiveType T1 Weightage % If the weightage computation level is set as “Objective”, then the objective (all objectives) is calculated as shown below: Objective Q1 weightage % = ((Objective Q1 weightage/sum(ObjectiveQ1 weightage +ObjectiveQ2 weightage....)) * 100 |
To compute the overall appraisal rating
Select the ”Compute Overall Self Rating” pushbutton to compute the overall self rating.
The system displays the following

The overall rating for the employee, by self. |
Overall Self Rating Grade |
The overall rating grade for the employee, by self. |
Enter the following
Specific Achievements |
The specific achievements of the appraise, by self. This is to be entered as free text. |
To save without completing the self- appraisal details
Ensure that you have entered details in at least one field.
Select the “Save” pushbutton
The system saves the unfinished details. At any time before the “Valid Upto” date of the appraisal calendar, the employee can retrieve self-appraisal details and complete them.
To complete and save the self-appraisal details
Ensure that you have completed entering all the details.
Select “Yes” in the “Have You Completed Appraising” drop-down list box.
Select the “Submit” pushbutton.
The employee will not be able to change the details, after the “Submit” pushbutton is selected.
To allow the administrator to edit the completed self-appraisal
Enter the “Self Appraisal” page, after logging in as the authorized administrator
Select “No” in the “Have You Completed Appraising” drop-down list box.
Select the “Submit” pushbutton.
Edit the details of the performance evaluation.
Select the “Save” pushbutton.
Select “Yes” in the “Have You Completed Appraising” drop-down list box.
Select the “Submit” pushbutton.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the "Training Needs" link at the bottom of the page to view the training need details.
Select the "9 Box Rating Details" link at the bottom of the page to update the 9 box rating details.
