This activity allows an employee to record career aspirations for himself / herself, and also view the final career plan that the HR user / supervisor has decided for the employee. Self service is possible, provided the following conditions are met:

¡         The employee is mapped already to the user who has permission to the “Record Career Aspirations“ activity.  The employee is mapped to the user in the Employee Code Setup component.

¡         The employee career plan has been marked as “Show Plan to Employee”. Otherwise, the employee cannot view his or her career plan.

Recording career aspirations for self

Employees in an organization may nurture different aspirations, about their careers. In this component, an employee can put forth his or her aspirations to the superior.

Essentially, an employee’s career aspiration refers to a sequence of jobs or assignments that an employee seeks for self, across the duration of his career within the organization; they may or may not be part of a job progression. These jobs are based on his preferences and skills, and are specifically perceived by the employee to enable his holistically growth and contribute to his productivity to the organization. Career aspirations consists of specifying the following information, for every successive job within the duration of the employee’s career:

¡         Organization unit

¡         Job

¡         Department

¡         Position

¡         Work Location

¡         Time span for each job.

These career aspirations can be accessed later, when deciding a career plan for the employee, and firmed up into the career plan of the employee.

Viewing the career paths for a job

Before he confirms his career aspirations, the employee can choose to view the possible career paths predefined for a job. A career path can consist of one or more career tracks for a job.  After viewing the various career tracks, the employee may be in a vantage position to grasp the potential paths that could be opened from a given job, and then enter his aspirations where he combines the best of the varying career tracks.

Viewing his or her career plan

After the HR user / supervisor has recorded the employee’s career plan in the Employee Career Planning component, the employee can view this career plan through the “View Employee Career Plan” activity. This activity is possible, only if his superior has given him access for viewing by marking the career plan as “Show Plan to Employee”.

The career plan is recorded for the employee, in the “Employee Career Plan” component, and is derived in one of the following ways
