This page allows you to close a MAC calendar. Tell me more.
Select the “Close MAC Calendar” link under the “Financial Calendar Closure” business component.
The “Close MAC Calendar” page appears.
The system displays the following:
Business Function Group |
The name of the business function group. The system displays “MAC” by default on launch of the page. |
Enter the following field:
Finance Book |
Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the finance book for which you want to close the “MAC” calendar. All the finance books that have been mapped to the login company will be available for selection in the ascending order. |
The system displays the following:
Closure Type |
The type of the closure. It must be “Final”. |
Enter the following fields:
Close Period / Year |
Use the drop-down list box to select whether you want to close the period or the year. You can select from “Period” or “Year”. |
Year Code |
Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the MAC year that is to be closed. The earliest MAC financial year that is in the “Open” status will be available for selection. The start date and the end date of the MAC financial year will also be displayed. For example, if there are 3 MAC years that have to be closed, that is 2000, 2001 and 2002; 2001 will be available for selection. |
Period Code From |
Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the MAC financial period that you want to close. The earliest MAC financial period that is in the “Open” status will be available for selection. |
Note: You can close a MAC financial period, which has an end date before the login system date. You cannot close current MAC financial periods.

Use the drop-down list box to select the code identifying the MAC financial period till which you want to close while closing multiple financial periods. All the MAC financial periods of the selected financial year, will be available for selection if there are more than one financial period that is in the “Open” status. |
Click the “Get” pushbutton to retrieve the calendar details.
The system displays the following in the “Year Details” group box:

Year Status |
The status of the MAC financial year. It must be “Open”. |
The system displays the following in the “Period Details” multiline based on the selected financial year:
Period Code |
The code identifying the MAC financial period. |
Description |
The textual description of the MAC financial period. |
Start Date |
The date on which the financial periods begins. |
End Date |
The date on which the financial period ends. |
Period Status |
The status of the financial period. It must be “Open”. |
Note: All the MAC financial periods except the last financial period of the selected MAC financial year must be in the “Closed” status.
If the parameter “Period Closing Required for MAC” has been set to “Yes” at the company level, the status of the financial year must be “Closed for MAC” for the same finance book.
All financial and production transactions must be updated and must also be in “Authorized” status.
All MAC accounting entries must be in authorized status.
Click the “Close” pushbutton to close the MAC calendar.
The system updates the financial and production transactions for the selected finance book. The cost center and cost element balances are carried forward to the subsequent “Open” financial period. If the parameter “Post Allocation Entries to FB” has been set as “Yes”, the entries are posted to the finance book.
Note: The financial transactions that have been incorporated in the finance book and the MAC accounting entries that have been posted must be in authorized status.

Select the "Pending Transactions" link at the bottom of the page to view the list of transactions to be closed before closing a MAC calendar.
Select the “BFG Components” link at the bottom of the page to view the list of the business components that form a part of the business function group.
Select the “Period Closure Status” link at the bottom of the page to view the status of the financial periods.
Select the “Preceding BFG Closure Status” link at the bottom of the page to view the status of the preceding business function groups.
Select the "Error Log File" link at the bottom of the page to view the details of the errors occurred during closure.
Closing MAC Calendar – An overview

You can select the code identifying the finance book for which you want to close the MAC year. You can select whether you want to close a MAC year or a MAC period. The system retrieves all the MAC years that are in the “Open” or “Closed for MAC” status. The system transfers the closing balance of the cost center and the cost element as the opening balances of the subsequent “Open” MAC period or MAC year.
This page also allows you to close multiple MAC periods. The selected periods are closed chronologically. The last period of the selected MAC year will be automatically closed when the MAC year is closed. The MAC calendar that is defined in the business unit level will be automatically closed when all the finance books are closed.
