This page allows you to approve, cancel or inactivate fault codes. Tell me more.
Select the "Approve Fault Code" link under the "Fault Isolation Manual" business component.
The "Approve Fault Code" page appears.
Enter the following in the "Search Criteria" group box, to search for a fault code. Entry in these fields is optional.
Fault # |
The fault code to be approved, cancelled or inactivated (Alphanumeric, 25). You can enter the number in full or specify it partially using the "*" character. The system retrieves all fault codes that are similar to the value entered here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve fault codes irrespective of the fault number. |
Fault Category |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the category of the fault code to be approved, cancelled or inactivated. The system provides the options "Observed" and "Cabin". The system retrieves all the fault codes whose category is similar to the value specified here. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve fault codes irrespective of their category. The system sets the field blank by default. |
ATA # |
The code identifying the ATA chapter (Alphanumeric, 16). You can enter the code in full or specify it partially using the "*" character. The system retrieves all fault codes under the ATA chapters that are similar to the value entered here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve fault codes irrespective of the ATA chapters. |
Status |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the status of the fault code. The system displays "Active", "Inactive", and "Fresh". The system retrieves all the fault codes whose status is similar to the value specified here. The system sets the field to "Fresh" by default. |
Key Word |
The key word to identify the fault code (Alphanumeric, 25). You can enter the key word in full or specify it partially using the "*" character. The system retrieves all the fault codes with key words that are similar to the value entered here. Leave this field blank, if you wish to retrieve fault codes irrespective of the key words. |
Fault Code Type |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the type of the fault code. The system provides the options "OEM" and "Airline". The system retrieves all the fault codes whose fault code type is similar to the value specified here. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve fault codes irrespective of their type. The system sets the field blank by default. |
Base Aircraft Model # |
Use the drop-down list box to specify the aircraft model for which the fault code must be modified. The system lists all the aircraft model numbers defined in the “Aircraft” business component that are in the “Active” status. The system retrieves all fault codes that are applicable to the selected aircraft model number. Leave this field blank if you want to retrieve fault codes irrespective of the base aircraft model number. |
Model Description |
The textual description of the base aircraft model (Alphanumeric, 150). You can enter the description in full or specify it partially using the “*” character. The system retrieves all the fault codes applicable to the aircraft model description specified here. Leave this field blank if you wish to retrieve fault codes irrespective of the aircraft model. |
Note: Leave all the fields blank to retrieve all the fault codes defined in the login organizational unit.
Click the "Search" pushbutton, to search for the fault codes.
Check the "Process All" box, if you need to process all the fault codes displayed in the multiline.
Note: If the "Process All" check box is selected, ensure that atleast one record exists in the multiline.
The system displays the following in the “Search Results” multiline.
Base Aircraft Model # |
The number identifying the base aircraft model to which fault codes have been associated. |
Fault # |
The number identifying the fault code. |
Fault Description |
The textual description of the fault code. |
Fault Particulars |
Any additional comments pertaining to the fault code. |
Fault Category |
The category of the fault code as "Cabin" or "Observed". |
Fault Code Type |
The fault code type as "OEM" or "Airline". |
Model Effectivity |
Model effectivity denotes the fault code that is applicable to the aircraft model. The model effectivity of an aircraft can be one of the following: Single - When the fault code is associated to a single primary model number. Multiple - When the fault code is associated to more than one model |
ATA # |
The number identifying the ATA chapter under which the fault code is arranged. |
Keyword |
The key word that identifies the fault code. |
Check the box in the “Select” column of the multiline, to select the fault codes to cancel, approve or inactivate.
Note: Atleast one record must be selected in the multiline.
Cancelling a fault code
Click the "Cancel FC" pushbutton, to cancel the fault codes selected in the multiline.
You can cancel fault codes, which are in “Fresh” status. The system changes the status of the selected fault codes to “Cancelled”.
Approving a fault code
Click the "Approve FC" pushbutton, to approve the fault codes selected in the multiline.
You can approve fault codes, which are in “Fresh” or “Inactive” status. The system changes the status of the selected fault codes to “Approved”.
Inactivating a fault code
Click the "Inactivate FC" pushbutton, to inactivate the fault codes selected in the multiline.
You can inactivate fault codes, which are in “Fresh” or “Active” status. The system changes the status of the selected fault codes to “Inactive”.
To proceed, carry out the following
Select the "View Model Effectivity" link at the bottom of the page, to view the model effectivity information associated with the selected fault code.
Select the "View Cause Code" link at the bottom of the page to view the cause code information associated with the selected fault code.
Approving fault code – An overview
This page allows you to approve, cancel or inactivate fault codes. You can carry out a search for the fault codes based on the fault code number, category, ATA chapter number, fault status, key word and fault code type. The system displays all the fault codes that match the filter criteria. You can select the fault codes that you need to approve, cancel or inactivate.

You can cancel, approve or inactivate fault codes that you created in the “Create Fault Codes” activity.
Enter the fault code number that you wish to cancel, approve or inactivate in the “Search Criteria” group box.
Select the fault code listed in the multiline.
Click the “Cance FC” pushbutton, to cancel the selected fault code.
Click the “Approve FC” pushbutton, to approve the selected fault code.
Click the “Inactivate FC” pushbutton, to inactivate the selected fault code.
Process fault codes listed in the multiline
You can process all the fault codes listed in the multiline by selecting the “Process All” check box, instead of selecting each of the fault codes that are displayed in the multiline of this page and then process them.
Check the “Process All” box in the “Search Criteria” group box.
Click the “Cancel FC”, “Approve FC” or “Inactivate FC” pushbutton at the bottom of the page to cancel, approve or inactivate all the fault codes that are listed in the multiline.
