Engineering Advice Note - An Overview

Getting familiar with the activities

The Engineering Advice Note prescribes a suitable maintenance action and represents the authority to execute the same, in the event of the approved maintenance procedures not addressing the situation on hand. A request for support in the form of an “Engineering Service Request” forms the trigger for an Engineering Advice Note (EAN).

The maintenance personnel can encounter problems in troubleshooting whose resolution mechanisms are not clearly stated in the prescribed procedures. The engineering cell extends support to the maintenance execution centers by providing clarifications or suggests suitable course of action; an EAN with the requisite clarifications is released as part of the technical support provided by the engineering department. However, an engineering advice cannot result in revisions to an approved task or changes to the aircraft or component configuration.
