This page allows to identify resolution procedure for the selected discrepancies or maintenance report. Tell me more.

The “Identify Resolution Procedure” page appears.

The system displays the following fields:

Date Format

The format in which the date fields appears in this page. This format is displayed from the "User Preferences" business component based on the login user ID. In case the format is not defined, the system displays the date format from the “Enterprise Modeling” business component by default.

The system displays the following field in the “Maint. Report Details” group box:

Maint. Report #

A unique number identifying the Maintenance Report. If you have selected a Maintenance Report in the previous page, then this field displays the number of the Maintenance Report.

If you have selected a group of discrepancies to be deferred, then the system generates a unique maintenance report number and displays the value in this field. The number is displayed with the corresponding prefix and suffix of the numbering type selected in this page. The number is incremented from the last number available in the “Document Numbering Class” business component.

Numbering Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the numbering type for the maintenance report. If you have selected a maintenance report in the previous page, the system displays “None” in this field.

If you have selected one or more discrepancies in the previous page, then the system lists all the numbering types defined in the “Create Numbering Class” activity of the “Document Numbering Class” business component that are in “Active” status. The system displays the numbering type set as default in the “Document Numbering Class” business component.

Maint. Report Description

The textual description of the maintenance report being generated (Alphanumeric, 255). Mandatory.

The system displays the following:

Applicability

The applicability of the aircraft, which can be “Aircraft”, “Engine” or “Component”.

Maint. Report Class

Use the drop-down list box to specify the class to which the maintenance report belongs. The system displays all the active codes that are defined under the “Maint. Report class” attribute in the “Maintain Discrepancy Attribute” activity of the “Common Masters” business component.

The system displays the following:

Record Status

The status of the discrepancy or maintenance report, which can be “Fresh”, “Pending” or “Pending deferral”.

  Enter the following:

Tracking Status

Use the drop-down list box to specify the tracking status of the discrepancy. The system displays all the active codes that are defined under the “Tracking status” attribute in the “Maintain Discrepancy Attribute” activity of the “Common Masters” business component.

The system displays the following:

Processing status

The processing status of the discrepancy, which can be “None” or “Under Analysis”.  

  Enter the following:

ATA #

The ATA chapter for which the discrepancy is being reported (Alphanumeric, 16). Ensure that the ATA chapter is already defined in the “Create ATA Chapter” activity of the “Aircraft” business component.

Chapter Description

The textual description of the selected ATA chapter.

  Enter the following:

Fault #

The fault code defined in the “Fault Isolation Manual” business component that is applicable to the discrepancy being reported (Alphanumeric, 25).

Cause #

The number identifying the cause code, which has been associated to the maintenance report (Alphanumeric, 25).

Cause Description

The textual description of the selected cause code.

The system displays the following field in the “Maint. Object Details ” group box:

Aircraft Reg #

The registration number of the aircraft for which discrepancies have been reported. The system displays this field only when “Applicability” is “Aircraft”.

Aircraft Model #

The model number of the aircraft for which discrepancies have been reported. The system displays this field only when “Applicability” is “Aircraft”.

Component #

The component number for which discrepancies have been reported. The system displays this field only when “Applicability” is “Component”.

 Serial #

The serial number of the part of the aircraft for which discrepancies have been reported. The system displays this field only when “Applicability” is “Component”.

Part #

The part number for which discrepancies have been reported. The system displays this field only when “Applicability” is “Component”.

Part Description

The textual description of the part.

Discrepancy #

The number identifying the discrepancy that has been raised against the component (Alphanumeric, 40).

Note: The discrepancies entered in the multiline should have been raised against the same aircraft registration number. The discrepancy number should not belong to any other maintenance report.

The system displays the following field in the “Discrepancy Details” multiline:

Discrepancy

The textual description of the discrepancy.

Discrepancy Type

The type of discrepancy, which can be “PIREP” or “MIREP”.

  • PIREP - Indicates that the discrepancy has been reported by the pilot while recording the journey log.

  • MIREP - Indicates that the discrepancy has been reported by the mechanic while raising a work order or technical log

Note: If the discrepancy type is “PIREP”, then the selected discrepancies must belong to the same source document.

Discrepancy Category

The user-defined category that has been defined for the discrepancy.

Tracking Status

The user-defined tracking status defined for the discrepancy.

ATA #

The ATA chapter on which discrepancy has been reported.

Fault #

The fault code defined in the “Fault Isolation Manual” business component that is applicable to the discrepancy being reported.

Source Document Type

The type of the source document in which the discrepancy was reported.

Source Document #

The number of the source document in which the discrepancy was reported.

Reported Date

The date on which the discrepancy was reported.

File Name

The name of the file corresponding to the source document.

The system displays the following in the “Engineering Reference Details” group box:

Engg Service Req #

The number identifying the engineering service request that refers to this maintenance report.

Problem Description

The textual description of the problem reported in the engineering service request.

Pre-closing comments

Pre-closing comments entered in the engineering service request.

Engg Advice Note #

The number identifying the engineering advice note, which is a response to the problem reported in the engineering service request (Alphanumeric, 40).

The system displays the following:

Revision #

The number identifying the revision made to the engineering advice note.

Recommendation

A textual description of the clarifications given by the engineering department.

Note: If multiple engineering service requests refer to the same maintenance report, then the details of the latest engineering service request are displayed in the above fields.

Component #

The number identifying the component to which the discrepancy is suggested to be transferred (Alphanumeric, 90).

The part number of the component to which the discrepancy is suggested to be transferred (Alphanumeric, 40).

Part Serial #

The serial number of the part to which the discrepancy is suggested to be transferred (Alphanumeric, 40).

The system displays the following:

Part Description

The textual description of the part.

Note: If you have specified suggested transfer details, then the system will display details of the restoration work unit specified for the component in the “Resolution Procedure” multiline. The restoration work unit for a component is specified in the “Component Maintenance Program” business component.

Resolution Type

Use the drop-down list to select the type of resolution suggested. The system displays the following options:

  • “Corrective” - Use this option when the resolution procedure has to be executed only once.

  • “Repetitive” – Use this option when the resolution procedure has to be executed at regular defined intervals. If you select this option, you have to specify time-base or usage-based schedules for the discrepancy.

If you have selected a maintenance report in the previous page, then the system sets this field to the resolution type defined for the maintenance report. Otherwise, this field is set to “Corrective” by default.

For example, if the maintenance report has both corrective and repetitive work units, the system defaults this field with “Corrective” and retrieves the corresponding corrective work units. If the maintenance report has only repetitive work units, the system defaults this field to “Repetitive” and retrieves the corresponding repetitive work units.

The system retrieves the resolution procedure details defined for the discrepancy in the “Resolution Procedure” multiline.

The system displays the following field:

Existing Content

The existing resolution type defined for the discrepancy. The system displays either “Corrective”, “Repetitive” or “Both”.

Work Unit Type

Use the drop-down list box to select the type of the work unit that has to be performed to resolve the discrepancy in the maintenance report. The system provides the options “Task”, “Standard Procedure” and “New Task”.

If you have selected a maintenance report in the previous page, then the system sets this field with the work unit type defined for the maintenance report. Otherwise, this field is set to “Task” by default.

Seq #

The sequence number for each record in the multiline (Integer). Mandatory. If you leave this field blank, then the system automatically generates this number.

Work Unit #

The number identifying the task or standard procedure (Alphanumeric, 30).

Note: The combination of work unit type, sequence number and work unit number must be unique in the multiline

If the “Applicability” for the Maintenance report or discrepancy is “Aircraft” and the “Work Unit Type” is set to “Task” or “Standard Procedure”, then the work unit must belong to the aircraft registration number on which the maintenance report or discrepancy has been reported.

Similarly, if the “Applicability” for the maintenance report or discrepancy is “Component” or “Engine” and the “Work Unit Type” is set to “Task” or “Standard Procedure”, then the work unit must belong to the part number of the component number on which the maintenance report or discrepancy has been reported.

The textual description of the work unit (Alphanumeric, 150)..

ATA #

The ATA chapter on which the work unit must be performed (Alphanumeric, 16). Ensure that the ATA chapter number is already defined in the “Create ATA Chapter” activity of the “Aircraft” business component.

Note: If you have specified the details in the “Suggested Transfer Details” group box, then the system will consider the “Restoration Work Unit” details of the component (defined in the “Component Maintenance Program” business component) as a corrective work unit and display the details in the above multiline.

Other Instructions

Any other instructions regarding the resolution procedure (Alphanumeric, 200).

The processing status of the maintenance report, as well as each discrepancy in the report, is updated to “Under Analysis”.

Note: If you have selected discrepancies for creating a maintenance report, ensure that the record status of the discrepancies is the same.

Note: This action is workflow-enabled. Notification messages can be sent as per the settings you have defined in the "Workflow Management" business component.

The processing status of the maintenance report, as well as each discrepancy in the report, is updated to “Analyzed”.

Note: If the discrepancy/maintenance report is applicable for a “Component”, the system updates the record status of the discrepancies associated to the maintenance report as “Pending”.

If the applicability of the discrepancy/maintenance report is “Component” and resolution type is “Repetitive”, the system considers only the floating interval value specified in the time-based and usage-based schedule details of the component maintenance program.

Ensure that the Aircraft Maintenance Program is in the  “Active” status and that the Component Maintenance Program is in the “Approved” status.

Note: Once the procedure is confirmed and the resolution type is “Repetitive”, the system does the following:

a. If the discrepancies or maintenance report is for an aircraft, the work units of the resolution procedure are added to the existing work units of the primary program associated to the registration number of the aircraft. The maintenance report number and maintenance report is updated as the Reference Document Number and Reference Document Type respectively.

b. If the discrepancies or maintenance report is for a component, the work units of the resolution procedure are added to the respective component maintenance program. The maintenance report number and maintenance report is updated as the Reference Document Number and Reference Document Type respectively

Note: This action is workflow-enabled. Notification messages can be sent as per the settings you have defined in the "Workflow Management" business component.

The record status of the maintenance report is set to “Cancelled”. Discrepancies are unmapped from the maintenance report and the record status of each discrepancy is set to “Pending”.

Note: You cannot cancel a maintenance report for which the record status is “Deferred” and processing status is “Analyzed”.

The processing status of the maintenance report, as well as each discrepancy in the report, is set to “None”.

The system displays the following in the “Record Statistics” group box:

Created by

The name of the user who created the resolution procedure.

Created Date

The date on which the resolution procedure was created.

Last Modified By

The name of the user who modified the resolution procedure.

Last Modified Date

The date on which the resolution procedure was last modified.
